Sure. I bought one a Goodwill for like $10. Just make sure it's not too hot when using.

Wax gets in the holes of the iron and you fuck up the iron. So unless you dont want to use the iron again I wouldn't recommend it

I did this when I was like 11 and the wax got on my mom’s clothes the next day.

11 year old me died that next day.

Def do what you want, but I just went through this exact dilemma and ended up just saving up and getting a wax iron after getting some advice. Solid investment i think, kitchen iron works just as well for short term or in a bind however.

yeah, just don't plan to use that iron on clothes again!

also i forget what the temp range is on a clothes iron-- it might be different from waxing temps-- so be cognizant of that

i agree that goodwill is a good move here. but personally i have a couple of these cause i found them for like $25 both times. nice and small/portable

Yes, been doing it with one I bought at a thrift shop for years now. Buy a cheap one and dedicate it to waxing. The iron will forever have ski wax in the holes n shit and will ruin whatever fabric it touches

I actually like using my old clothes iron more than the dedicated 'ski iron'. Just make sure it does not get too hot and burn the wax.

I used to wax my skis. Then I found out the ski wax manufacturers were all owned by the same corporation that operates FIS.

Now i I just raw-dog it because I’m core.

Wax is the biggest scam in the industry. Oh let me melt this shit on my skis just to scrape it off right away, what a joke. Can't believe how many sheep follow this nonsense.

Factory wax will last multiple lifetimes if you don't break the seal. But once you break the seal by waxing it with one of those scam companies, you'll need to wax it every day. If you never ever wax anything then you'll never need to

I used a clothes iron that I got at ocean state job lot for $8. A lot of the cheaper ones have no holes and work fine. I now use a swix iron that I got for christmas, but the other one will remain a functional backup.

I am so fucking addicted to waxing my skis. If I don't after every 4 or so days of riding, I feel super off, I stick to rails, I don't feel like I'm carrying speed, ect. I only go thru like 1 bar per season so I'm alright with it. I even like it as a pre-skiing ritual of sorts

i didn't comment on that because hopefully people will realize those were just jokes. waxing is very important (and cheap and easy)

to each their own, but even if all i ever did was ski a 15 foot high trash heap with rails i'd still wax often. faster and more consistent speeds, easier turning, maintains your bases, blah blah blah

I will admit I do like waxing mine there’s something about knowing how good they’re gonna feel after you wax them

Back in the day it was literally one of my favorite activities. I would take my chillum and smoke while I did it. Being stoned and watching the wax drip then melt onto the skis from the iron is really therapeutic. Cleaning up after scraping always sucked though.

Would you also wash your car with a straw broom? No I didn't think so.

If you're gonna take the time to wax skis, do it right. Otherwise what's the point.

lmfao how is using a clothes iron a "bad idea" As long as you set the heat so it's not burning the wax it's the same thing, spread it around until the wax is a visibly even coat and scrape it off, waxing skis isn't rocket science..

If you can't tell that the wax is burning, then you have problems other than some thirsty bases.
