Dry wax

Does dry wax do shit? I can easily tell the difference between edges being blount or sharp but I can tell the difference between a waxed base and one that's not so the effects of dry wax seem even smaller. Anybody got some race times to prove the efficacy of dry wax?

Assuming you mean the rub on stuff.

Wax will pretty much only make you that much faster if yo have the right wax for the right snow temps. For the most part regular wax (not the rub on) does a very good job of protecting your bases more than anything.

I would recommend never using that rub on crap because it will oxidize your bases, thus ruining them over time.

tbh having some red and some blue wax will work for 99% of the days you go skiing. I've dealt with rub on wax and can tell you it does not last very long. The swix red I use is good for -12º to 36ºF so I put that on my park skis 2-3 times a month.

i don't think rub on wax does much at all, for very long anyway. in my experience it's less of a regular wax substitute and more of a "oh shit i forgot to wax again and it's killing me today, this will help a tiny bit" ....kind of thing
