Replying to Could you charge a person for a crime they might comit

Ok what do you guys think about arresting someone and sending them to jail for a long time for something that they did not do?

When the FBI monitors chatrooms for kids that will try to have sex with kids or they are alerted by a parent they let the guy set up a meating and arrest him on the spot. they are later tried and with all the logs from their messages they can usually send the person to jail for a while

alot of these people have no kiddie porn on their computers or any record of trying to have sex with kids.

so who is to say that they wouldnt show up to the meating and decide to walk away or not atempt anything sexual.

I dont think that child molestation or having sex with kids is right or anything but I dont think people should be locked up for something they might do
