Hi, I'm from Uruguay and can only ski for about 2~3 weeks a year. I'm lucky enough that my dad arranges ski trips yearly in summer to the US or Europe, and this year he chose Japan. For the past years I've been mostly demoing skis but I feel like it's time to get my own. The thing is that in South America pow is not abundant, and I don't want to get that big of a ski, but at the same time I know that mid-late February Japan has pretty decent conditions.
My question is on what Ski to buy then?
I'm 6'0 and 178lb.
I ski mostly Off-piste and all mountain, with a bit of park here and there (boxes, 180s and 360s)
I'll be skiing in all types of snow, but I'm looking to make the most of my trip to Japan. (I realize it's not Japanuary and don't need that big of a ski)
Looking for a decently durable ski as it should last a couple of (short) seasons.
I was thinking something along the lines of the ARVs 106, or faction CT 3.0s. Maybe I'm going too wide?
Maybe I should demo once again and then buy something narrower for skiing in Argentina?
What are your thoughts?
Sorry if my english isn't perfect, and I'm open to all types of recommendations, consider that I've no one with expertise to talk directly as I'm one of the few in my country that actually likes skiing.
Some skis I've tried:
CT 3.0s on icy/bumpy conditions: Decent, too stiff but a blast at high speeds.
Salomon suspects: too narrow, not my type of ski
Soul 7s: really good for all mountain, purely powder switched to super 7s which I liked as well.
