Pow/Big Mtn touring ski; need recommendations

So I bought some Candide 4.0s in amazing condition at the beginning of the season and mounted them up with Shifts. Probably easily one of the most fun setups I've ridden to date but only 20 days on the skis and the tip on one is delaminated and the other ski is completely split in two at the core. I'm looking for some recommendations for a new backcountry setup and if you can please link or write a review for the ski! Looking for something 115+ in the waist and 180-187 in length.

On a side note; are the new Candide 4.0s or 5.0s way more durable than the old ones? Mine were 2014s with the ultralight foam core and while I'm sad that they're fucked up they were some pretty damn fun skis.

Wildcat (tour) by far the most versatile ski I’ve ever ridden. Haven’t ridden the tour but the regular wildcat is awesome.

Thanks for the recommendation! I had a pair of the 2013 bibby's and loved them. They're in my dads hands now but them tours tho... Are they any stiffer than the normal bibby/wildcat?

I have no idea, but I would assume they’re slightly softer. I know my 2017 non tour bibbys flexed stiffer than my friends 4.0s though

Just skiing man. Didn't even do anything crazy is whats weird. Went off a kicker into a mogul run at high speeds (something that any other ski i've owned can handle just fine) and when I went back up the lift someone pointed out at the top that my ski was fucked. The sidewall had blown out underfoot the the core had been cracked. I said fuck it and took the skis up the next day since I already knew they were dead and shredded them hard until I got them to that point in the video above. Whats weird is that even if I had been "careless" going into moguls and snapped that ski, the other skis tip had still delaminated in the ~20 days I had on them too. Guess the rumors about the old Factions were true haha.

I got the new rossignol blackops 118 and they are the best pow/ all mountain skis! Super fun to ride, handle hard conditions pretty good and stiffer than most powder skis but makes them super responsive and stable

Thanks! Took a peek at the article and it looks like I’d just be expecting the wildcat tour to be too much like the Bibby and not account for the weight difference. So this brings the question, with the deathwish only being ~80g heavier than the tours (blisters measured weights) would that be worth it to slap shifts on those?

If you liked the Candide 4's and were happy with them for touring, I'd honestly just go with the standard Wildcat. The current 184 cm version comes in a little over 2000 grams which is pretty light for how big it is (average weight per ski for our pair is 2056 g), but you can still ski it very hard. If you'll be doing a lot of longer tours, then the Wildcat Tour might make more sense. Blizzard Rustler 11 is another fun option, as is the Line SD 114, but those are both a bit more directional / less playful than the Wildcat and CT 4.0.

Yep, way more durable now. Full wood cores in all our skis, and the CT 4.0 & 5.0 have titanal/phenol reinforcement underfoot too
