Replying to The You Are Not Alone Concussion Thread
Have you suffered a concussion (skiing or otherwise) and felt withdrawn, alone, and mentally cloudy for longer than it took for the concussion to "heal?" YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
I suffered a TBI skiing in 2015 and didn't feel like myself until over 2 years later. To this day I wear glasses and have an eye disorder from my head injury. I lost many friends because I wasn't myself and became depressed for a period of time because I felt like I had no one to lean on. Despite not being expected to graduate HS, I now attend Montana State University as a Presidential Scholar studying Neuroscience. I've rewritten the ImPACT test and am a researcher in the Repine Laboratory at CU Medical School studying concussions in rats. I intend to go to medical school to become a concussion rehabilitationist.
I'm posting this because we need to lean on each other more and that starts with telling your story and realizing you are not alone. Please feel free to share your concussion stories below and leave a positive comment on others stories.
Spread love today.
