So what does 6 thousand bucks give you? Bogner Bamboo All terrain ski! Made in Germany, handcrafted from bamboo, 70mm underfoot this ski has plenty of reasons to gouge the living fuck out of you.

I like how the “We Also Recommend” items are a bamboo helmet, and a pair of googles with fur trim. I think they have the target demographic totally nailed.

Saw some of these at the toronto snow show last year. Interesting looking, but the shovel on that supposed pow ski looks very counter-productive

Honestly, I would never pay that for skis but it's a lifestyle company not a ski company. If i could drop 7k Willy nilly then yeah I would get a pair as a status shmbol. A 500 dollar Swiss made watch could provide the same utility as a 18 million dollar Richard mille watch, it's just a instance where I want it because I can have it. That being said can we talk about kastle, they charge 2500 for skis and you don't pay for the name. I can't imagine ut skis twice or tree times as good as anything else.

I own a couple skis worth way more than 500$. They are really terrain specific. My DPS Wailer99 tour 1 are my touring contest/ultralight setup and my factions CT4 are geared to be great freeride skis.

I can afford them and make sufficient cash over the entirety of the summer to sustain skiing all winter. Budgeting and financial responsibility is the secret to afford high end skis.

But 6,000$ for bamboo skis? they have no added performance, nothing that sets it apart to justify its cost. Will I spend a thousand hard earned bucks for a ski that is lighter/ stronger and has a wider range of uses that I need? yeah, of course. Just means I gotta work a few more shifts.

I’m with you on this one,go to any of the big name resorts; Verbier,Zermatt,Courchevel and you’ll see the richest of the rich gracefully skiing blues with these exact skis and fully decked out in Gucci etc.
Also /claim I rode a gondola with an Arabian prince who’s 3 huge bodyguards all had those old Atomic Livefit boots

True story: I was in St. Moritz, Switzerland (the kind of place where a week at certain chalets will run you 100,000€) and one of the shops I had a meeting with was talking about a princess from the Middle East that they assisted when she was on holiday. She wanted to go on a hike in the mountains with her entourage but didn't want to take the local horses. So naturally she had her personal camels flown in instead.

This is the kind of money that exists in skiing, in Europe. It's absolutely mental.

What retailer do we blame for the new rear-entry boot?

People need to know the retailer selling these skis. Sporting Life caters to a high-end, very wealthy customer base that primarily skis at private ski clubs in Ontario, Canada. This has changed a bit since they've expanded across the country but the target demographic remains the same. Their stores have a massive section strictly for Canada Goose jackets, the sell tons of Bogner, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Prada, etc...

In the case of these Bogner skis, since they only offer it in a 171cm I would imagine there's only one pair available in the entire chain and it's very likely on consignment given the amount of Bogner clothing they sell. Also, someone in their demographic certainly will be buy those Fendi goggles simply because they're Fendi
