Replying to Why the fuck is getting bootfitted so frustrating? Holy shit
So I went to the bootfitter today to get some Tecnica Mach 1 MV 130's and the bootfitter seemed great esp compared to past bootfitters I've had. Super super knowledgeable about technical details of boots. Everything was going great, we adjusted some things about the boot and got a custom insole. Then we heat molded the boot and afterwards it felt significantly less snug. I didn't like this and discussed it with the bootfitter and they seemed a bit unsure of what to do about it. They told me that the boot was definitely the right size for me and that I would probably have to try fitting in the LV if I really wanted a snug fit, but in that case they would have to cut down the liner (and thus if I didn't like the LV then I wouldn't be able to go back to the MV). I had tried the LV on earlier and the toe taper at the front made it too cramped. After a bit of further deliberation they told me that I should go out and ski the boots and if I didn't like them, then I can come back to the shop and get them padded up and adjusted for free, and there is even some irreversible process to make them super snug if need be.I ended up buying the MV but I'm just worried that it will feel about as loose as the boots I used to have, and that there won't be much improvement in control.
I asked about the 3-piece Dalbello boots they had and the bootfitter told me they were way too wide for me, but I looked them up and they had a narrower last than the Tecnica Mach 1 MV...at this point I didn't wanna pressure him into having me try on another boot esp when the Tecnica already fit very well (this was before heat molding so the Tecnica boot still felt really snug). I kinda wish I had tried on the Dalbellos because their diagonal ankle strap seems like it would keep my heel locked in much better than a standard boot. But I can't return the Tecnicas I bought now so idk what to do.
I've been to multiple boot places and tried on tons of boots and done a solid amount of research on this shit and it pisses me off that my experience can't just fucking work out. I've heard so much conflicting information and misinformation. Wtf is wrong with my feet? I just want something that fits like a glove and only barely lets my heel lift. Is that really too much to ask? Why can't I get it with all these boot technologies? Honestly fuck this sport sometimes
