Just always wanted a pair of 4.0s and I think there a sick ski.

chalkbag31Hi, lately i looked for a freeride ski with some freestyle charakter. Now I´ve found on the one hand the Armada arv 116 jj ul and on the other the Faction ct 4.0. Could you pls help me wich one i should chose?!
...Would be aswome!!!

this is going to be my second pair. i already have a all mountai ski. i would like to get a broad freeride ski for powder wich is also suitable for some freestyle. i have been skiing sking for my whole life. i think those skis are my best option ( tell me if im wrong). i just would like to know wich is the better one for my preferrences...

If you’re not touring, don’t go with the UL.

in the moment i have a pair of atomic vantage x75cti (165cm) and they are good skis for carving but with a with of only 75 mm not really sutible for deep powder. Im 17 years old, so i never owned any good skis beside the vantage, always rented better ones. Im 5,4 ft tall and weigh about 134 lbs. i live and ski in austria / swizerland. Im skiing pretty agressiv with a lot of drops/ jumps and like to do like 360 and backfilips and such. I am probably more keen on skiing steeper technical lines.

As someone who was in similar shoes, i got a free pair or enforcers. When I used them, my legs found it extremely painful to adapt to 100mm underfoot. My legs were done after a few hours of skiing. I would reccomend getting an all mountain pair of skis between 90-100mm first before going something that wide especially if you have only used something 75 mm underfoot.

I only going to ski them in powder do you really think it’s going to be that bad?

I'd say that both skis are really good options but depending on how much you really plan to do tricks I'd go for a heavier chargier ski (at least if you plan to ski steep and tech lines). I mean if you want to really focus on tricks and creative skiing in mostly untracked and fresh snow than I'd say go for it but if you're skiing a good portion of your time in tracked out pow than a heavier ski might come in handy for high speed run outs and sending stuff. So out of the two options you listed I'd probably go for the ct 4.0 as it has a stiffer flex and weights a bit more and there for will provide more stability.
Also as someone else already stated I don't know if you really want to go for a 115-120 mm powder ski if your only other ski is a vantage x75cti that is particularly the case if these skis are light and have extreme rocker profiles as they tend to lag flexibility ones there isn't a lot of snow. But then again with the conditions in Austria right now you can't go wrong with either one of these two skis as they both should be extremely fun and will allow you to ski all kind of pillows, cliffs and other terrain.

I would reccomend demoing a pair of 100mm skis and see how you feel after a day. You might not have the same problem as me, but you don’t want a ski you struggle to maneuver because you dont have any experience on fatter skis

If your leaning towards faction. Try the 5.0 before the 4.0. It’s a little larger. But it’s honestly the rowdiest ski faction make. So much fun and super solid underfoot

You don't weigh a huge amount and are pretty small at the moment. You'll float around on a 100-110 ski easily and find it night and day compared to what you're on now. Why not get something like the Arv 106, Candide 3.0 or maybe a black crow atris (108). Plenty of waist to get into what you want, and the 3.0 and atris have a bit of backbone - you'll find them more versatile and easier to spin as well than jumping straight onto a 115+ waisted ski.

a 115-120 mm underfoot ski that you are looking at is definitely overkill for your size. The black crows atris would be a very good choice for you. Super stable at speed, playful and can still carve on groomers better than most skis in its mid-fat freestyle/freeride category. With your weight, you'll find the 10 mm width difference makes a negligible impact on your float in deep pow, but you can turn and slash around easier
