How to carve into a spin?

Old (27) man of Ns looking to improve my wack jump game. Can 3 with a few grabs (safety and tail) on a medium jump line without issue, Anytime I try to carve into a 3 I end up really off balance and sort of on my side. Tips for staying more balanced? Unfortunately don’t have any clips as I mostly solo shred these days. I would hazard the guess that I am not popping evenly, and looking a bit more down that out to the horizon on the rotation and ending a bit more off axis than intended. At worst I land on my side, at best I have a sketchy off balance landing. Any help appreciated

I think you feel off balance because you're not really trying to cork, and carving on the takeoff will definitely send you a bit corked. Maybe you could try dipping your shoulder more and fully go for it at this point.

my 3s always ends up a little funky when I carve for an upright 3. I've found that reaching for a high safety like immediately kind of forces a little wobble into it and I usually come out ok. it feels wack though, honestly a full on cork 3 is easier for me when I'm carving.

if you want to keep it upright you have to set it a little different, kind of push your leading shoulder forward like a flatspin but just a little bit

I agree, you are likely leaning your shoulders up to try to stay upright and that is fighting you rotation. You dont need to full cork, but try leaning into it a bit more with your inside shoulder.

carved 3s are extremely fun, once ive learned them i carve into all my spins now. you will probably feel the same!

ive had the same experience as you at the start where before im even 180 i just start getting off balance. the best advice i would have is to have a strong take off: push that shin forward and set the spin with the right force. when youre 90 start sucking your knees up and pretend youre bringing your tails up for a grab. it will correct your position midair and youll be a lot more comfortable during the spin. good luck!

Doing a cork is not the answer. Just try to stay balanced on the take off, a carving 3 isn’t all that different than a normal t set 3. Definitely practice by carving into 180s, once you get a good feel for that then bring it to a 3. Good luck mate

Great advice guys thanks. I did mean a carve into a more reg than cork 3. I want to learn cork 3s as well, but not in good shape to take many falls anymore. And to think I used to tramp and had a bag of tricks I never Successfully brought to snow. Old man tip: stay in shape if you want to ride as hard later in life as you do now!

Make sure you still have lateral separation when you're carving into it, if you incline (lean) into the turn to much your centre of mass will be too far over your inside ski and that will be why you will be landing off balance.
