Rum_HamI’d argue that bullying can be good to an extent. Obviously when it goes too far it can have terrible results. That said I think 99% of people in the world were bullied and bullied others. It makes you a tougher, more resilient person to be bullied as a kid and bullies that grow out of it usually become nicer people once they realize the error of their ways.
First of all, I wouldn't ever suggest saying that to a parent of a child who committed suicide because of bullying so I'd avoid using the word "bullying". A better word would likely be teasing.
And as I said before, it's a slippery slope.
When does it become too much? When does it go from teasing/roughhousing/joking to bullying? That point is different for everyone.
No rational person is calling for every child to be coddled and insulated from the realities of the world but it's not acceptable for a targeting of an individual because of who they are, how they act, how they dress, what sports they play, etc. on a consistent basis. This isn't saying there should be no more roughhousing, no more teasing, no more contact sports, etc. either
What this campaign is calling for is a reflection upon what society deems as acceptable actions under the guise of masculinity. The world is changing but our understanding of masculine isn't. We need to modernize it and let it become acceptable when young boys do not embrace/follow/adhere to what have been labeled masculine traits. We also need to examine how we use masculinity as an excuse for certain actions. There are a ton of examples of incidents that have used masculinity as an excuse or crutch and that needs to change. And that doesn't start with kids, it starts with adults because they're the role models for the young men.
If people are getting upset over that and other ads like this then they're no better than the SJW's they complain about. It's clear they're missing the entire point of this campaign and taking it to the extreme. They're conflating "traditional" masculinity with "toxic" and they're two very different things.
And frankly, that makes me laugh.
