FWT scoring question

Sometimes when someone finishes a run, the commentators say some variation on "we're not sure if the skiers up top will hear about the score" (as in before they start their run, I guess). I am so confused by this. At first I thought it might be a fluke or temporary communication problem but they've said it multiple years in a row now and I just don't get it. Is there no standard practice for telling the riders the score or are the commentators genuinely confused?

I’m definitely not an authority on this, but I don’t believe there’s deliberate communication of scores to the top of the venue. Maybe they’re referring to athletes hearing scores announced over the loudspeaker at the bottom

When I competed they didn’t tell us any scores at the top. This is probably deliberate so that riders don’t try and “one up” whoever has the current highest score, better to just let everyone ski their line they way they want to.
At some venues we were able to watch the live webcast on our phones from the top so we saw some of the scores regardless.

Not to derail this thread, cause I would like to know too. But when you say when you competed, what stopped you? Is there an age restriction on the (junior) tour? I'm asking cause I got into skiing way late and have always wanted to try a local competition, but it doesn't seem they have it like they have intermural soccer or basketball for all ages and levels of skill. While I understand it is much more dangerous and requires more than a simple competitive rec league.

I barely missed the cut for FWT requalifcation last season :(

I believe Jr comps top out at 18 yrs old/end of high school, but there’s also the FWQ tour for adults! I’d look into their different levels of events to check out what seems best for you.

At first I was like BS and then I was like ohhhhhhhh, man I remember this dude. That sucks...I loved your run in the fwt, balls to the wall run that was. I was actually looking forward to seeing you compete again

Awe damn I'm sorry man. Do the riders have to pay for there own transportation and lodging once there on the tour and qualified?

hey thanks man! was maybe hoping for a wildcard this year considering the number of injuries but it’s not looking likely

Typically lodging/tickets/some food was paid for by FWT in the days surrounding the event, which was awesome. Transportation is up to the riders, however
