Potential 12-24" storm inbound for new england with many resorts looking in good position. I'm definitely gonna make the drive this time.
Any suggestions on where to ski? My season pass gets me into mount snow so thinking there Saturday and then perhaps mad river or smuggs on Sunday since mixed precipitation predicted for Mt snow Sunday. The weather can still change but gotta make plans sooner than later.
mt snow aint where you wanna go for shredding a storm
i say smuggs or cannon. maybe magic but did you say it might be rainier in s vt? i haven't been paying attention to the forecast.
where are you driving from? (you don't need to be specific, just general). cannon is sick as hell with new snow and it looks like theyre getting it. smuggs is amazing though. if a primary concern is the pass price that will change things i guess
there's also the tiniest chance i can escape the city this weekend (sunday or monday) and shred. i might PM you if that's a go and see where you're headed

I bought a ticket last night to smuggs so I'll be there Sunday. Liftopia has decently priced tickets for a holiday. Saturday I'll be at Mt snow cuz the storm isn't supposed to arrive until the evening and I'd rather ski for free if I can.
Winds will for sure be an issue throughout this storm as the cold front coming in will bring hurricane force winds. Its not too often the National Weather Service even notifies people about a storm so early......... And yeah mount snow will be packed to the brim with jerrys and the one thing thats more dangerous than a jerry is a jerry behind the wheel of a car in a storm.....
jfang2799In similar shoes. Located in Albany Area. Where should I go I have a peaks pass?
I've been pretty closely following the different weather reports and mount snow is in the white 3ft+ area however everyone had said that could be a mistake to go there cuz jerries man... Jerries everywhere. Since it's supposed to dump through Sunday late, I still may stop there on Monday and ski with my pass for a few hours before driving home. The for sure thing is it's gonna dump all across VT and the weather channel keeps upping the totals as it approaches. There's a small storm hitting today/tomorrow that should fill in the icy spots if any then the big storm arrives Saturday night. Everywhere should get close to 18-24" at least by Sunday night. Legit blizzard conditions possible. Still a low possibility for mixed precipitation in southern VT hence also why I'm avoiding Mt snow. Skiing Saturday will be nothing special. Sunday/Monday are where it's at. Also of note Jay Peak's Tim Kelly is predicting much more than the weather channel is saying and the Jay Cloud somehow always outperforms so I wouldn't count them out as a good place Monday (wouldn't be surprised if high winds/cold air) shut down Jay's upper mountain Sunday; if that happens, Jay is my pick for Monday hands down.
I'm going to smuggs and their lift tickets are the cheapest on liftopia considering it's a holiday weekend. Also staying 4mi from the resort so prob best choice for travel if the roads are bad. Mad river I think is $85 and being an hour south of smuggs, they're predicted to get more snow as of right now. Combine that with the low chances of jerries there and that is probably the most promising place right now for snow and good laps. Killington also looks to be getting dumped on with totals closer to 2-3ft but with its popularity and proximity to NYC, I'd avoid it like the plague on a holiday pow day.

Also never seen this before either haha
mad jealous youre gonna be at smuggs. git it dog
also yeah, if jay is partly closed sunday, monday there might be insane
Mount snow will be fun only up high but it's a little to flat, some good trees off long john if you trek a bit. Since you have a peak owned pass go to wildcat if you can, not as much snow but you'll probably find better pow skiing. Otherwise buy a ticket at Stowe or Jay cause those are both so good for pow.
does anyone else have major concerns about roads being shut down? i have a feeling that if it really snows as hard as some people are predicting sunday, unless you are very close or already staying at the mountain you wont be able to make it? with that being said monday is gonna be real cold but might actually have the best skiing

No disrespect but if you're recommending trees off long john and then complain about it being flat you are skiing the absolute wrong areas of the mountain.

i know north face is good, was a regular there for 3 years but never skied more than carinthia that often lol, was 2 hours away so never really came on pow days but they have good terrain but other VT mountains are better. Skiing off there was actually fun though, usually was untouched i just also assume if theres fresh snow there that its skied out when i get there cause its busy.

Kind of, but also why I booked 4 miles away from smuggs. Maybe some of the smaller roads may be impassable, but I've been in VT when 18" has dropped before and they were drivable albeit sketchy. Their highway crews do a phenomenal job of clearing. If you're further away, accidents and stuck cars could block up roadways. If you have a sedan that may be problematic as ground clearance may be an issue.
I'm more worried about getting into and out of parking lots as that's areas that tend to not get plowed as frequently. Also worried about Jerries not knowing how to drive or leave adequate distance from the car ahead... And lastly about winds that could shut down lifts. Snow is supposed to stop Sunday night/very early morning Monday so Monday could still be a killer day especially since most ppl will prob be driving home. I'm thinking about skiing for a few hours before I go home Monday
Fuck I’m getting fomo bad right now. Can’t ski today or tomorrow but was thinking about driving up to mount snow Monday for the leftovers (driving from jersey so it ain’t a quick trip). Just don’t know if it’ll be worth it. Won’t the crowds be the worst on Monday? I just hate to miss a storm like this

Mount snow wasn't awful today and I found some stashes in the woods that no one had touched. Base lifts were insane; 15min wait for singles lines.... So glad I'll be at smuggs tomorrow
Anyone have an sweet stories? We got about 6 inches here. Amazing snow, but it's been cold af with strong winds. Chic Chocs are probably the place to be right now. Environment Canada was forecasting 50cm +
Mt snow was fun. I just woke up saturday & was like im not driving through that shit. My friend calls me and tells me he will be outside in 15 minutes. Took him an hour but was still worth it. Was also surprisingly not crowded to shit

Nothing sweet I did, but some people were absolutely fucking sending it under the lift on Upper Lift Line at Smugglers Notch on Sunday getting mad air time. Everyone was hootin and hollering. Twas awesome.
I woulda had a good video of my first run, but like a rookie, I put the battery in too early. Got a 9 sec video....
ended up at Mount Snow for the storm.... there was a much smaller turnout then expected.
Shoutout to the crew that towed my car out of the base lot mess.

I think a lot of people weren't able to make it. That sleet transition really fucked it for us though, missed out on potentially another foot throughout the day with how hard it was coming down and if it hadn't transitioned it would have been extremely light snow. Still was a great day! Tons of great stashes around.
