Do mouthguards work??

I mean it won’t hurt. And it helps you keep your teeth too

I knocked a tooth loose in a stupid fuckup by catching an edge and managing to get the pole handle to my face. Cut my tongue open so bad I thought I lost part of it, didn’t think about my tooth at all with all the blood. Had to get a root canal because apparently you can kill the nerve with impact/trauma. Had no idea until after an X-ray they asked if I did anything since my last. Now take a guard any day I ride with poles.. thinking it would have helped greatly in that accident. Just thought I’d offer another angle at their use than the concussion part.

And in regards to the op, I imagine it'd help with keeping your teeth and not cutting your goddamn tounge in half.

Yeah I ride with very short poles, it was a stupid fall and I’ve never before thought of the possibility of taking a pole handle to the teeth... wasn’t pretty. Bad reaction going down fast and boom. In fact if I had larger poles at the time I probably wouldn’t have been able to get it aimed square at my teeth. Now I only ride w poles if it’s a pow/trees day
