Hey All,
Tore my MCL (don't know how bad) but Doc said out for 6 weeks and wearing a brace 24/7. Was supposed to go out to Utah March 15 - 24 and was curious if this is far enough out for recovery time/will I even be able to ski this season again? If anyone has any info much appreciated.

Listen to doctor. Do physio. Don't ski before it's ready - if you reinjure it I promise it will be even worse than this time.
From someone who has skied with torn MCL and set himself back even more.

Probably not at least that time I wouldn't push I might even give it an extra week if not more. Docs usually don't assume freeskiing which is something to take into account. take it slow work your way up for up to at least maybe mid April to be sure. Rest now = more fun later because you wont hurt yourself again or battle an ongoing injury.

listen to your doctor.
the health of the ligaments in your knee are crucial to your longevity... not only as a skier, but just generally living a high quality life.
don't fuck with that.

listen to your doc, your pt, and, most importantly, yourself. I broke my knee a couple years ago and my doc said I could go back to skiing 4 months after surgery which was wayyyyy too early. I think we had very different definitions of skiing. My pt said "no fucking way you are skiing this year" and I listened to her and it was definitely the right decision. But my knee was presumably in way worse shape than yours and I couldn't walk for 2 and half months after the accident.
Bottom line: if your knee is not feeling like it will perform 100% as it should then don't expect it to.

Cash that ticket for Utah and go to the beach somewhere instead. Ski hard next season. Listen to the doctor.

youve got 9 weeks until your trip, if your doctor says 6 weeks im sure you'll be cruising around in 6 weeks. Not sure how hard you will be skiing in March, but you could probably ski I'm guessing. But it all depends on your PT and everyone is different, rest up and get your PT in and you could be shredding in march.

Don’t ask for medical advice from stoned teens on the internet. Ask your doctor these questions.
