You need to complain and get a big ol voucher. Southwest lost our skis for 6 hours (which effectively ruined an entire day we bought lift tickets for) and they gave us rental vouchers for our entire trip as well as a $300 credit each person for future trips. They didn't initially give it out but after a few hours of repeatedly returning and then requesting that they compensate us, they did very nicely.


Also check your credit card benefits to see if any of that covers reimbursement. Many travel cards would.

SW has been awesome about checking my bags. They are also very understanding if you talk to the right person and explain, politely, how much this is inconveniencing you. Let them know how much $ you’re losing out on by now having your skis to use.

Not sure im gonna ask for monetary compensation cause I wasn't paying for lift tickets in the first place and Im gonna be here for a while.
Also got an ingrown toenail in the process so I couldn't ski anyways lol

Use that voice of yours and cop a new pair.

Unfortunately I am a dumbass and didn’t realize it was $3000 so I did not buy anything but some bibs and a jacket. Airlines can and will pull through if you heckle enough, they got plenty of money to keep you as a customer.
The lady on the phone said, “we have big business guys bring $10,000+ of golf clubs on a trip for a meeting, if they are lost they need to be replaced. Same goes for us. Tell them you’re on some free ski team, that’s what got me to credit.

^this. They don’t know you have an in grown toe nail. The only “fact” they have is they lost expensive skis of yours. Compensation is in order!

Tell them you are a Newschoolers member mang. NS army will vouch for you. Tell them you need skis ASAP for your next post and it’s very important. So important that you just took an airplane trip with your skis. Make the people at the airline look at some NS video s and pics and look into their eyes with your I just lost my skis eyes

They found them and shipped them to me within like, three days.
I don't really want to be a dick to the airline as the customer service was good and they shipped em back to me in one piece. If it happens again though then maybe compensation is due.
Still have an ingrown toenail though so expect an ingrown toenail thread in the near future lol.
