Base layer

Hello,
I have just bout a new pair of Holden 3L shell pants. This is my first she’ll oant. I usually have a slightly insulated and wear a la bent midweight thermal under.
What do you suggest I wear under my new shell pants, I don’t want to feel bulky and tend to get cold on my legs.
I was thinking a pair of the burton expedition 300 thermal pant. Will this make me warm enough

I usually ski in a mid weight base layer beneath a non-insulated shell and have been perfectly warm in whiteouts, rain, and temps in the teens with 50mph wind gusts. Your legs give off a lot of heat when you work them hard.

Under Armour 3.0. Without a doubt. I use it at work and it's pretty much the standard for base layers. You can wear it for weeks on end and it won't smell, it absorbs sweat and is durable asf. I've had mine for 2 years and have had zero problems.

I wear long underwear. And some under armor sweat pants under my saga monarchs which are just a shell. Never have been cold

I have the Under Armour Base 2.0. It's great but I wish I went one size larger for the top (it keeps rolling up my back). I ski in Wisconsin and it's great most days. Yes some days warmer would be nice and some days thinner would be nice but for most days it's perfect. If you only have one base layer and are on a budget, the 2.0 would be the way to go (depending on your location).

Just bought some ski pants that seem like a good match for a base layer. Research says to go Merino wool. Judging by this thread the choice seems to go polyester, synthetic. Is that the case here? Need a base layer this weekend.

use polyester it's easier, cheaper, more comfortable
