t0asterDude. Ride park to get some tricks done? You’re saying that there is no good jumps where you ride. So try the park and then take the tricks to the off-piste
Mad234its not so much the jumps arent good i just struggle to find a natural jump or cliff that is good to do a certain trick off example: this cliff isnt good for a 3 so just huck it or this jump is good send a 3.
cheers for ur help though mate

I am not a park skier either, I never ever ever hit it before a year or so ago simply cuz I just was not into it. Stuck to my cliffs and “bigger lines” like you say.
Learned 180s off features and started to learn to 360 but then realized, you know where the perfect place to practice this is?...the park. Treat it as your training grounds. I’m sure you can 360 off a cliff but it’s probably not as clean/stylely/tweaked/whatever as you could be sending and dialing down in the park. Being able to lock down tricks, add shifties and progress to new stuff is way way easier in a park, if anything simply because consistent jumps and REPITITION. You’ve got minimum 6 tries per run for anything versus 1-2 hucks off a cliff or whatever.
That being said, I hear you with trying to figure out where to go next cuz it simply is just harder to do tricks off mountain features. One of my favorites is switch 180s cuz they are easy and look sick. Nose butter 3 inspired by Markus elder too uh.
Things I am working towards for the same kind of skiing as you this season are continuing to add style and progress with grabs on my 3s, those side flips, front flips, switch 5s (cuz landing forwards will always be easier off a feature)
At the end of the day it’s going for it, repitition and then muscle memory. Hit only the jumps in the park, don’t need to fuck with rails. dial down your tricks and work toward new ideas, I’m sure progression will come naturally and you’ll be way more set to send it off a cliff!
Mad234im in breck right now and im gonna go to one of the parks and just spend a few hours practising the tricks i want to take to the cliffs and natural jumps. ive pretty much dialed my 180s but you seem like the guy to ask should i keep 180s for mellower jumps with a easy landing, not having to worry about landing backwards between trees etc. also any tips on switch 180s i really struggle with them.
TRVP_ANGELgood plan. You should always be comfortable doing the trick (360, 540, whatever) in the park before you take it to natty features.

ButteredToast.Yeah definitely practice tricks on a small/medium jump before taking them to the natural hits, unless you can find decent little side hits, those are good too
sw 180s are pretty easy once you get the take off down because you can spot the whole landing coming in switch can be scary at first but you just have to commit to it. My biggest problem with sw 180s at first was that I was leaning over my noses way too much on the takeoff at first and landing backseat. You should have a more neutral stance for switch tricks in my experience
good luck my dude
Mad234With any tricks when mastering it in the park should I be doing what ever the trick is over and over again till i just stomo it ever time

MortbrokemyskisWith switch 180s the biggest thing is having a proper stance. Approach the takeoff looking over the shoulder you want to lead your rotation with and stagger your feet so the foot your head is over is in front (if I’m spinning to the left I’ll look over my left shoulder and have my left ski leading). Try and apply pressure down the hill on that forward ski (people like to lean super up the hill going switch but it’s the same thing as being super back seat going forwards which makes your skiing shit). Then you have to be super patient and get a clean pop then start spinning after your pop . A switch 180 is just your body realigning with your head so there’s no need to rush but if you’re learning switch 180s it’s probably your first time hitting a jump switch so you tend to spin too early to try and get forward ASAP but blending pop and spin on the takeoff just means you’ll catch your tips on the takeoff or be unbalanced.

postal_slimeyup. everyone in this thread has been super helpful with their tips! can't think of anything else.
with switch 1sfor me it was mental mostly. on the mental side, i i told myself, "I'm already going that way, my body is just gunna want to turn around normally" it seemed to happen easier than overly-thinking about want i need to do to setup/take off.
let us know what you figure out, what new tricks you've found are good progressions on natty features and whats good!
ZiggyZagSkzzYou knocked yourself out? How tf
Mad234idk i remember just waking up at a cafe or restaurant. apparently i under rotated and head slammed
Mad234alright update time, two days ago i knocked my self out doing a 3 down a little cliff (first attempt since i last knocked myself out in japan doing the same thing) today i was back on skis and spent the afternoon practicing my 3's I've pretty much dialed them in and now looking to take them out of the park. my sw180's are pretty shit still but thats a work in progress. cheers to everyone who has helped me out
CalumSKIonly 2 freeriding tricks that will ever matter are a dub backie layed out and cork 7 blunt
skiguy04Good luck doing those tricks and never riding park
