Boot help yurgent

Can you not just go to the boot fitter the day before, find a good boot then come back next day with mum to "try some on" then just buy what felt good the other day.

Edit: I reread your thread, and kind of have trouble understanding your circumstances.

From what I understand, try and make sure your heel is really locked into the boot and feeling good. Then worry about the toes later. You can blow out the front but not the back

Can you drive? I feel like the best option would be establish a budget with the parents, drive yourself to the shop and spend the time you need to get a good fit and swipe their card.

Ask your parents to drop you off and come back in an hour or so? Tell them boot fitting is like getting fitted for a suit and that the measurements matter. They'll hopefully understand it when it's put into context. If not, tell them skiers date skis but marry boots. You don't marry someone after one date, it takes time.

The boot won't feel comfortable right out of the box. Chances are, the liner will have to be molded, perhaps the shell as well.

Looks like Mud Sweat N' Gears is Masterfit certified which is a bonus for sure. I'd give them a call and see if you can set up an appointment with the lead fitter. Definitely tell him what you're looking for in a boot, what kind of skier you are, etc. and then they should do the rest.

The first thing they should do, besides measuring your foot with a brannock device, is doing a shell fit (trying a boot on without the liner). If they just immediately stick your foot in a boot with a liner and start asking away if it is comfortable then you need to politely ask them if you can do a shell-fit first.

After that, it's really up to feel and trying a ton of boots on.

They've got a pretty good reputation from what I remember when I was last out in your neck of the woods. They used to sponsor some race series and a lot of the racers went there for boot fitting so I'd feel comfortable with that they'd recommend you.

Don't have some preconceived notion of what boot you want, go in with an open mind. And do ask them if they do follow-up work for free or charge for it. It may be something you have to take into consideration and talk to your parents about.

It sucks when your feet are still growing but if you treat your boots well (and don't get a lot of work done on them) you can definitely sell them and recoup some of the costs.

Ha. I didn’t get mine till my permit was about to expire at 18 for the same reason.
