Seriously, on the lifts errybody seems mad bummin. Errytime I ski I get mad pumped, it is hard not to be psyched when thinkin about how fortunate you are to be able to tear it up.

People bitch about the parking. The lift lines. Their skis. The conditions. Shit's wack. Seems only a small percentage of people are psyched to be alive and skiing, nomatter what.

What gives? Enjoy yourselves peeps

Get this all the time on the east coast - I got a season ender ACL tear in 2017, and my homies were complaining about how there was no snow that season but they were still going out and ripping 2-3 times a week, while all I could do was dream of how great it would be to skid down an ice strip. really puts that shit into perspective! any skiing is always good

Seriously tho. I feel ya op. I was at snowshoe last week and folks were soooooooooooooooo quiet and boring on the lifts. Except for this one kid who may have had autism and was super stoked about everything and told us all these random facts about snow guns and wind powered lifts. He was nonstop the entire ride lol. People need to be more like that kid. Even my puss ass brother was bitching about ice. Any day on skis is a good day. Have fun with it

Feel the same way. I have friends that i ski with, and they never have any stoke. It kinda pisses me off, it's like, you're on the mountains, you're so fucking lucky man

Hate to admit it but sometimes I catch myself feeling cynical towards lift lines or traffic...lucky enough to catch it most the time and have a quick attitude change. Unbelievably lucky just to be able to ski in general something I'll never take for granted

It's so true. Skiing for me is like tripping. Your concentrated but at the same time you kinda just float away and your mouvement become natural. Sometimes I stop myself and it's like woah- like am i even skiing? This shit feels so good

Nothing pisses me off more than people just constantly bitching. How that one patch of snow is real icy. How last weekend was rainy. How the snow is slow. How the groomers messed up the cuoudoroy lines.

Just shut the hell up and go have fun!!! Isnt that what it’s all about after all?

I think a lot of people do it because they think it makes them seem "cool". "Yeah its alright, but there's just too many people, I've skied way deeper pow in *insert location*, etc". At some point everybody just thinks you're an asshole.

Yeahhh that is the only thing that bums me.... When it's whiteout (which is super common on my home mountain) you literally can't see 2m in front of you 😕

i guess sometimes we get hyped to ski on good snow or without long lines and then its not what we expect, so we r bummed bc we love skiing. But this is all true we are lucky jus being on the mountain!

Well if you aren't a season pass holder, you just got raped for a lift ticket. Pair that with only being there to please your spouse or kids....

Compare that to a local/weekend warrior who busts his ass Monday through Friday to ski the weekends.

Shit gives me vertigo, although sometimes it can make for some really cool tree skiing (assuming its not so bad that you cant see trees).

I work at snowshoe as a ski instructor, and the only people who know to have fun on less than 4 inches of dry powder or on a day colder than 20 degrees or warmer than 30 is us. I see people with that dickhead attitude talking about the shitty snow. Just yesterday, I was cruising down spruce and Gandy and EVERYTIME I got on the lift with someone they were just complaining about everything. I went to the fucking park, met a couple of dudes and they never complained.

Nah, all the high school student athletes who don’t know how to relax have taken over skiing and are trying to go D1, or at least that’s what happens at my mountain.

I'll regularly chat about conditions but it's always in good humor. Never like "man what a bummer these conditions are" more like "Lol it's so icy I'm going mach 2 even when I'm not trying"

damn yeah man, same with my mountain, a closely fabricated realm of experience cultivated by peers/friends/acquaintances(team-members) in which most of the time you're all just "dicking around" and skiing with a child mentality. as the years go by, and enough days of skiing solo, you cultivate gratitude for simply just being aware of skiing on that particular mountain, u kno...ecosystems are minutely and gently torn apart by invading and expanding resorts, pollutants, small cut deforestation etc. I'm not saying everyone, adopt a hippy mentality!, But rather take note of how you're impacting fragile external experiences cultivated by perception and ask, what can i do ? thx!
