Why was tanner so pissed off at the powder awards?

I just saw his insta story saying he won’t be back next year and he said something about money buying the prize. What was all of that ?

I think he was saying something about how you had to pay money to get nominated or submit a clip

He might not be completely wrong, a lot of award type of events make a decent amount of money doing this type of stuff and usually charge the participants + the nominations

Definitely possible and even likely that there is a fee associated with a submission, it's pretty standard stuff in the award world. But I'm not sure that's what he was referring to. He was nominated in 3 categories, so it felt like he was hinting at the fact that money bought the prize, not the nomination. I think he may have been just pissed because he didn't win.

Which is weird if you think about it. You would think that he wouldn’t care too much about not winning he does t seem like the guy to care , but I guess he must have been really pissed off by it

The Powder Awards is a joke anyways. "Yay, let's give ourselves awards and say how incredible everyone is! This will really validate our skiing before we're forgotten by the public in 3 years!"

I feel like there's way way too much content out there to do it otherwise. They'd have a million submissions. Plus hopefully the money goes towards the prize for the winner.

But judging the Powder Awards fairly requires a lot of time of our panel, and we think it’s important to compensate them for this time. That’s what the fee goes toward. Most awards shows require a fee to enter in order to cover their costs, and that’s what we’re doing here in order to be as fair as we can while trying to keep costs minimal enough as to not price people out. It’s not an easy balance. We appreciate your feedback and will definitely keep it in mind moving forward."

the Powder awards like most every awards type show is a joke, if the determining factor for who wins or even gets to enter is based off of how much money you spend then you aren't an award you're just handing out "GOOD JOB" plaques to the highest bidder.

This is how almost all "award shows" work. Not just skiing ones. You have to pay to be eligible to win a meaningless award. That's why award shows are stupid. But they will always be around because people will always support them and buy into them because people like to be handed prizes and told they are the best.
