TRVP_ANGELHe might not be completely wrong, a lot of award type of events make a decent amount of money doing this type of stuff and usually charge the participants + the nominations
Monsieur_PatateDefinitely possible and even likely that there is a fee associated with a submission, it's pretty standard stuff in the award world. But I'm not sure that's what he was referring to. He was nominated in 3 categories, so it felt like he was hinting at the fact that money bought the prize, not the nomination. I think he may have been just pissed because he didn't win.

AndrewGravesSVPlus hopefully the money goes towards the prize for the winner.
KretzschmarIt doesn't
Comment on that post from Powder:
"We appreciate the sentiment here—we don’t like paying money for stuff either. But judging the Powder Awards fairly requires a lot of time of our panel, and we think it’s important to compensate them for this time. That’s what the fee goes toward. Most awards shows require a fee to enter in order to cover their costs, and that’s what we’re doing here in order to be as fair as we can while trying to keep costs minimal enough as to not price people out. It’s not an easy balance. We appreciate your feedback and will definitely keep it in mind moving forward."
