Does this bother anyone else?

Photo after photo after photo on Instagram of skiers and snowboarders for resorts, everytime they get a little snow, makes it look like they're chest deep in pow. Sweet. Holy cow. Look how deep it is there. Let's go!

But to the trained eye, many are just perfectly timed photos. If you watch videos of these riders, you'll see them making numerous in short sequence exaggerated stops to spray snow in the air before simultaneously blasting through it. Why are they skiing like this? The answer is better photo shots. Sure they're still great days, but why oversell it with manipulation? It's like a chick standing on her toes and bending a leg to make her ass look better. It's quite annoying all around.

I'm on to youuuuuuu!

Also the suspect snow stake placements. There will actually be like 3" of new snow but they make sure to measure in a wind lip where the snow piled up to 10". Fucking worst

Thank you for this thread. Perfect example is Snowbird. They will literally keep terrain closed so that there insta athletes can get first laps of staged trench turns..

I kinda get it in the context of taking those pictures for the average joe skier crowd

But yeah dude it's pretty lame and watching it take place in real life is hilarious

Yea this gets me. Jay is bad for it. I've seen them say like 18" in 24 hours when a hill 20 km away says 6 or 8" for the same storm. Maybe that could happen once or twice a decade, but they do that multiple times a year.

Ah yes, the Revelstoke Unicorn Turn, better known as fake deep. The hockey stop. Makes you look like an idiot to the onlookers, makes you look like an idiot to the viewers. These need to go away. Only weekend warriors may get tricked by it. Next time you go out to get media for your hill, make a real turn, ski a line, take a photo that shows your entire run and the terrain your hill offers. Fuck off fake deeps.

one time i was on the sugarloaf website and instead of saying it was raining they hit us with the "unfrozen precipitation". all the mountains be fake asf these days.

As far as snow forecasts go, just use a thirdparty service like snow-forecast.com. For conditions look at the avalanche reports.

except it has perpetuated into the common folk and now every person taking a picture of their big pow day at the hill is a shitty looking fake deep.
