ShastownSoldierIt's alright, I like the people in colorado better. The ski season is also pretty short here. If I were to do it over. I probably would have tried to live in Salt Lake. The highways leaving denver are too crowded to get to the mountains in a reasonable time. San Diego is just far, and the mountain is only good if you ski park. It's also harder to find people to ski with in socal. It felt like everyone in colorado was really about skiing/ the outdoors.
WillgumYeah I feel you on that. Being in a place where everyone skiis /mtb /hikes makes a huge difference.
Its funny I moved to Sun Valley and you can be at the grocery store and talk to the cashier about conditions, new gear, the sick run you took earlier that morning etc... Everytime I visit a normal city it's like... damn, smalltalk in a non-ski town is boring haha.
BigPurpleSkiSuitI'm a banker
WillgumHey hows the career going, any new directions or goals?
Quick question on banking. I'm interested in possibly transitioning to be a Wealth Management Banker. My current job is complimentary to Hedge Funds which have been progressively shitting the bed the last few years, and my town ( Sun Valley) has a high number of UHNWI, making the WM positions in town pretty stable.
Do WM Bankers / Advisors typically have a resume that's deep with retail banking? I'm lacking retail experience, but my CV goes something like this: Working in a Single Family Office for a UHNWI, who is an ex HF manager and an active investor. I'm proficient with investments on macro and individual scales. Extensive relationship management experience with clients with a NW of 5mm or more. About to be CPA but I don't dig Accounting per say. Been told I have good soft skills. 26 yo.
Do Wealth Managers typically work their way up through banking, or can people like myself transition in?
BigPurpleSkiSuitWealth managers come from all kinds of different backgrounds in my experience. Retail doesn't mean much apart from showing you can sell. What does matter is how personal you can be with the clients and how you come across. You'll probably be able to find whatever you want with that resume. Careers going well, looking like I might end up in commercial lending here shortly!
