Ryan5_MNRecently graduated college with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Basically a glorified nerd, spending my days working at an aircraft design company in northern MN working out random electrical/avionics issues. Can't complain about the pay and turns out airplanes are pretty damn cool. Still get out to ski Fri/sat/Sundays a good amount but weekdays are basically just working/eating/sleeping.
DeebieSkeebiesHospitality Major student, Just a special unique title for people who wanna get a degree running hotels and restaurants/bars. Hopefully would like to be a lodging GM or a property manager. Also interested in doing property management for 2nd homeowners and also dabbling a bit in being a realtor with these said 2nd homes. I already do half the selling for the realtors as it is and it seems lucrative enough.
oh and yeah I guess skiing before work everyday is a plus.
WillgumMy buddy just made a change from a gig in Aeronautic Engineering to now engineering Firmware in SF. He said working in Aviation was fascinating and fulfilling from a career sense, but the day to day was excruciating because of the minuscule tolerances and military - like processes. Have you felt this is true for the industry, or maybe it was just his specific company?
TRVP_ANGELWaiting for that one guy that sells smelly shoes to come in here and talk about his 6-figure lavish lifestyle
DayManHey that's me! I was able to outsource the stanking of the shoes to middle schoolers so now I live comfortably on my yacht with my 4 stripper wives. I occasionally have to come ashore to keep those kids in line and make sure they're getting the shoes appropriately smelly.
-skian-Snowmaker/lift mechanic/park designer/parkbuilder and maintainer/cat driver/lifty. And occasionally help patrol. Basically I am a ski hill.
XxAc1DtR1PxXHow did you start doing all that stuff lol
WillgumYou make more money as a cult leader, but you have more fun as a follower
Pretty fun as far as business things go, I'm hoping to bring valuable advice to the cult.
gaddafski"On Snow Media Coordinator" at a CO resort
cydwhitI draw stuff and write stuff for the internet. I also do concrete countertops and high-end wood floors when the mood strikes me. It's not a traditional career, but it's sustainable, and gives me the quality of life I want.
KaneDogTips on landing a job similar to that? I just went through 3 interviews at A-basin and ended up getting slashed.
gaddafskiHappy to homie! For me it came down to having a couple years experience in a marketing role, experience with writing copy, and basic videography/photography experience in an outdoor/action sport capacity. If there's anything I can recommend I guess it would be having a solid portfolio of aforementioned work and boatloads of confidence without overselling yourself beyond what you're capable of.
Not sure what the A-BAY job entails but my days are spent filming on the mountain, writing blogs for the resort, and more or less being the "face" of the resort on all social channels. Hope this helps! Happy to elaborate on anything else, just holla
GORILLAWALLACEpark crew at a large mountain resort
definitely the best thing I've ever done with my life.
KaneDogI'm thinking about taking a terrain job at Keystone, just got to figure out if I can swing living in summit on a budget. Any advice?
runforlove2018Don't know anything about anything but having roommates helps regardless of where you are. Living close to your place of work to limit gas spending is a plus. Having a budget also helps. Limiting spending on nonessential items.
KaneDogFor sure I have already bummed it in keystone the last two seasons over winter break from uni, but now I have a degree and student loans that come with it
roddy116I do food delivery through a phone app and get paid way too much.
KEVTRONI'm a professional baby sitter, I save dogs, and I respond to medical calls.
CLQYeah i doubt that you even get paid minimum wage
freestyler540I work on this
As an Engineering Officer (guy in blue cover alls)
I work 6-7 months in the summer and take the winter off to do 130+ days of this
KaneDogDamn where you living where summer is 6-7 months?
KaneDogDope yeah it was for almost exactly the same position. I have 2 years at a marketing job and some pretty solid photography/videography experience, I guess there was just a stud who beat me out. Sucks cuz they strung me along for about three weeks and now I'm jobless and have to move out of my crib at the start of the new year.
7springsprodAirline pilot. Shit is fun sometimes.
Young_pattycurrently going to school to become an english teacher, I run chairlifts in the winter and work as a camp counselor in the summer. Just quit my job washing cars at Avis- it became a lot less fun once we were no longer able to rip on the job, probably a good call though we were the 3rd lowest ranked Avis in the country and averaged 6 out of 100 in positive reviews.
Titus69Lol I did courtesy wash and vaccs at Volvo and my coworker was 95% stoned all day from dabbing, top rating for Volvo in USA, miss it cause real detailing blows and was too fun.
Young_pattyOh yeah, washing cars is one of those jobs that sucks sober but is a blast high. Definitely gonna miss taking a snapper and then jamming out and washing cars for a bit, was such a good way to de-stress and
Clear my mind after a long day of class.
