JoeF2661How do you know I was being ironic?

ddemille1What's the deal with type 4 skiers?

SuspiciousFishSkier type just designates what DIN settings the shop sets you at. DIN is a balance between keeping your skis from popping off vs. busting your knee because your ski wont release. Park skiers probably can keep a littler lower DIN setting as there is not as much risk if a ski comes off. However if you are skiing a really dangerous rock line or chute and losing a ski could mean serious injury then you definitely want to make sure you have your DINs cranked up a bit. Its really easy to adjust them with a philips screw driver so if you find your skis popping off a lot, bump them up a number and see if that helps.
RparrIt's just a guideline for shops and jerries to get their dins set at a relatively appropriate level. I like my dins real nice and low though. Been on 7.5 for years and i only sometimes pull my ski off when I tweak mute.
MaimHelpWhat size are you if you use 7.5 lmao. You are a lot better than me and I thought mine was low with 8.
Rparrsize 29.5 boots and 160 lbs. I don't jump much as you can see but I could probably imagine being able to put down anything short of a dub with these din settings. I'd much rather lose my ski a few extra times than have my ski hang on when it shouldn't and twist my knee up
edaiwhat were you doing before skiing seriously?

hubbardswhat happens if you’re midair and you pull off your ski do you crash or can you land and ride it out with one

RparrBoth have happened but I generally fall lol
SofaKingSickjust start practicing putting them back on in midair and BOOM, SSX Tricky, you'll win x games
hubbardsIs there a recorded case of someone hitting a jump, removing their skis and putting them back on before or as they land?
There's a lot of potential in click ins, but I'm not sure if it's worth risking crippling injury

zman420There's a vid some comp skiier who lands with one ski. I can't remember who but it was kinda savage
teamSESH8's not that low dude. I'm 6' 175-180lbs and I ski at 9 sometimes 10. As a Midwest park rider, I have yet to find I need more. Have there been times I have ejected but shouldn't have? Yeah. But I'd rather that than messed up knees.

freeskibum82yea. lots of kids always think higher din is needed because they think they are type 3. I've had a guy yell at me for setting them at 8 on his old ass k2 apache and say "8? i havent been an 8 since i was in high school. im just going to turn them up to 11 myself then since you wont," my response was "cool! have fun"
i've been an 8 DIN based on the chart for as long as i can remember and the skis operate exactly as they should. If kids are adjusting the bindings themselves to make their full tilts fit and do not know what forward pressure is, they'll crank the DIN thinking that'll fix it... oh the things i've seen.
tl:dr: you need what the DIN the chart says, trust the chart, you may be able to kfed but you probably dont ski as well as you think you do. in before the "tell us about the war" jokes
