Help me finish my quiver

So I started skiing again after a 6 year "break". I picked up some Domains for the low last year and I also grabbed some Vishnu Wets this year. I ski at Granite Peak, mainly park. I plan on using the Wets for park, Domains are now backups/eventually urban skis, and I'd like to add something for tearing up groomers and some ungroomed "Midwest powder". If possible I'd also like the skis to be park capable, ride well switch, and I'm not sure if this is a good idea but I'd like them to handle skiing at Mt. Bohemia.

Should I get separate skis from these for Bohemia/backcountry? It's not something I do much of at all. Maybe a couple times a year.

I was thinking Kartel 98s or Poachers would be great but I'm kind of doubting they would perform at Bohemia from what I have seen.

Idk anything about bohemia, but I just coped poachers. Things are weapons for all mountain park skis. a bit heavy but durable. With still enough flex for me. but if your looking for more flex n lite go with Kartels. I ski at meadows if that's any reference for Bohemia

Good call on the PB&J. I forgot to include that but I was eyeing them up recently. ARVs were another option. I'm not too familiar with the Camox though.

Sorry for the double post. Here's some random footage of Bohemia just to get an idea. It's a lot of ungroomed tree skiing. Triple black diamonds and basically the closest to skiing out west that you can get in the Midwest.

That's what I was thinking. Seems like it can do a bit of everything while not being great at one thing and honestly the only "great" ski I need is for park and I already have my Wets. I just need a ski that can hold its own in the powder of the U.P., icy Wisconsin groomers, can slide rails, and ride switch.

I think I'm down to the Kartel 108s and PB&Js. Would Kartel 9's be out of the question for any powder use? I'm assuming if I wasn't taking them up to Bohemia they would be a better choice than the 108s.

Just me, but if Bohemia was an option. I would grab the 108. It's pretty damn versatile.

Sounds good I'll take your word for it. I just need to figure out if I actually will be going to Bohemia now. I don't have anyone to ski with these days and I can't see myself going up to Bohemia alone. Thanks everyone for your help.

That place looks sick. Based on that video pb&js would be a great choice for that terrain and style of skiing. They’re stiff enough to blast through crappy snow but loose and playful enough that you can whip em around in the tree easily.

Ya it’s crazy for the Midwest. They also have cat skiing in even crazier terrain. They call that Voodoo mountain and it’s part of the same place basically.

Damn this makes the midwest look pretty legit haha. Yeah I mean I would ride my poachers here probably if they also had a small park. Good luck in choosing it's a good problem to have.

I have 181 Kartel 98s and 188 PB&Js, and I'll say they feel pretty different. The moments feel more locked in to turns and are more stable, while the kartels are more maneuverable and looser. I haven't skied true pow on either because I have dedicated pow skis, but they both do pretty well in chopped up snow and soft bumps because of their rocker profiles. If you can find a deal on either K108s or PB&Js I think you'll really enjoy them!

If you already have domains and wets, why not get dedicated big mtn/pow sticks? Something 105-112 underfoot like the K108, Deathwish, Nomad 105, Amiplid Multiplayer, Line SFB, etc. You'll still be able to slide rails on fatty pow sticks if you learn to lock in so just look for a freestyle pow ski imo. With anything less than a K108 like the poacher or K98, you are just going to have hella quiver overlap.

You'd consider the K108 a big mountain/pow ski? I just don't ride those conditions much at all so I want something more for groomers after we get some fresh snow and maybe some tree skiing. Other than the UP we don't really have real powder. I just want something that I can use at Granite Peak when I want to charge, get out of the park, etc. and if it also would work at Bohemia / in powder that's a plus.

Are the Kartel 108s decent on groomers? How do they perform in the park (obviously I would opt for my other skis but if I have them on my feet already I might want to take them through a few jump lines or slide a few rails)?

EDIT: I was also eyeing up the Deathwish like you mentioned. How does it compare to the Kartel 108s?

Id classify the billy goat or K116 as a big mtn/pow ski but in your case the K108 would feel like a pow ski coming from midwest. Overall both rail groomers and have decent swing weight but are stiff enough and have enough rocker to be used in powder and chopped snow.
