Cheap accommodation near EU resorts

Hey, I'm heading to the EU for some ski bumming in March. Planning to hit up Mont Blanc, Chamonix, and Verbier. Does anyone have tips about how to find cheep accommodation? It seems like hostels aren't really a thing at the resorts. Hotel prices are out of my budget. I might end up renting a van and living out of that, but I'm not even really sure how I'd arrange that. Figure some people here might be able to give me some pointers. Thanks!

Depending on your definition of cheap, I find Airbnb the cheapest way to find accommodation in France (verbier is just generally pricey). Alternatively most French resorts will have big hotels which are basic and designed to cram as many people in as possible. Probably just look on trivago and filter price L to H to figure which ones they are

Well you're not going to the cheapest resorts in Europe... So it will be quite expensive regardless. You can always try to find someone who's renting a bedroom or do some couch surfing. Airbnb and facebook (look for private seasonnaires groups in those areas, they're usually super active) might be your best bets.

It's already been said but yea Chamonix and Verbier not exactly budget destinations. That being said, the Verbier Accommodation facebook page sometimes has people who are going away for a week or two and want to rent out their apartment while they do, I've seen some going for 200sfr /week which is super cheap around here.
If you're not totally set on those resorts, Austria tends to be a bit cheaper, and otherwise I'd just look for an airbnb.

Check Airbnb regularly for deals, and you might get lucky. Should still be some gems left for March. Also, there are hostels at least in Chamonix, just google and you'll find some. Chamonix lodge seems like a decent one.
If you want a decently located studio for yourself, expect to pay somewhere around 60€/night in Chamonix, and probably triple that in Verbier. Decent option is to pick an apartment further away from the resort and use the free shuttle buses or rent a car. Parking can suck though, so keep that in mind. How long are you planning to stay?
