Am I concussed?

knatmanAnyone gotten a concussion before. If so, what were your symptoms, how’d you know? How long was the recovery? I Took a hard fall today and smacked my head pretty good. Everything seems fine but I’m unsure if I now have a concussion. Head feels a bit weird and I have a mild pain that comes on briefly in random spots and then fades.

Stay away from lights, drink plenty of fluids, try as little nuero genesis as possible (using your brain) I know it’s tough but your brain is MAD susceptible to even worse long lasting damage after the initial smack.

You probably have a mild one. Just relax, eat healthy, take some CBD or some other sort of anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen, stay hydrated and stay out of the light to avoid the pain.

Yea ur concussed no doubt give at least a week before u do anything like skiing or other things that could potentially damage it further, made the mistake of skiing too early after a conc once, was not fun

I had a concussion once but I forgot what the doctors told me to do. Ba dum tis. Okay shitty jokes aside. You probably have a mild concussion. A concussion can be anything from a little bit dazed to out cold or put you in a coma.

As people said take it easy. Lay off the screens for a night, phones ans laptops are the worst. Tv isn't as bad but still shouldn't go too hard. Drink water and get some rest.

Also give yourself some time to heal. A bunch of smaller concussions in a short period of time can actually be a big deal. A couple of serious concussions in a short period of time can kill you.

I wouldn't sweat it much honestly, but just kind of know to take it easy.

u shouldnt be on here if u are concussed( Avoid screens and books and stuff)
but when i had a concussion i lost vision in 1 eye and had a splitting headache and wore ski goggles everywhere once my sight came back because i was all sensitive to light

Honestly some of the advice in here is the same or better than I got from doctors. Also you really can't go to the doctor for every small knock to the head.

Not to be a dick, but just because you’re in the medical profession doesn’t mean you are the ONLY one qualified to chime in.

Of course we would rather OP get checked immediately after the slam by a professional, but he didn’t. He came on here asking for advice and people with a lot of concussion experience helped.

Simply “going to the doctor” for a concussion isn’t the easiest or cheapest. Just to have an MD tell you to stay off your phone, drink fluids, and stay in low light after your expensive ass ct scan/MRI.

Some help is better than no help which is what OP sounded like he was getting before asking NS.

in a perfect world, we would all run to MD’s when we have medical issues but that’s just not realistic.

You guys are both correct with what you said. Many MDs aren’t the most versed when it comes to concussion. The run of the mill things are said. All things that were said in this thread were pretty accurate for concussion treatment. The medical professional doesn’t need to be a doctor tho. Many high schools and most colleges have athletic trainers. They can be seen for free and are highly trained in all aspects of concussion.

The reason why I said to see a medical professional is because we can’t know that Op has a concussion. Not all hits to the head mean one is concussed. Perhaps he isn’t all. Then the advice would do no harm. However, there is potential for a life threatening situation known as subdural hematoma (bleeding within the brain). Unrecognized, this results in death. It’s because of this slim chance that I didn’t even drop concussion info. OP and anyone who has suffered a head injury and is experiencing symptoms should follow up with a professional in person who can make an assessment.


I’m really saying none of us are qualified to give OP specific medical advice since we aren’t able to assess him in person.

To illustrymt point with a different injury: Not all rolled ankles are sprained ankles. Some are fine, some could be a fractured fibula. Just because your rolled ankle was sprained and ankle sprains are common doesn’t mean someone else’s is also a sprain.
