Atomic Hawx Prime 110s: Does it have True Flex like Ultra's ?

No, the Prime 110 S does not use True Flex PU. Only the Prime 120 and 130 models use it. The reason that all Ultra models use it is that the super thin shell walls that Ultra has necessitate that this type of plastic be used. No other PU will work in Ultra. Prime is slightly thicker and this allows us to use other grades of PU that are relevant for certain price points.

True Flex PU has a stiffening factor of 1.2 at -20°C

Normal PU (polyurethane ether and ester types) have a stiffening factor of 5.0 at -20°C

It's for sure a real thing that you can feel, both at super cold temps and super warm temps.

Well, don't be too disappointed... our 110 is what every other brands' 130 is ;)

The stiffening factor is pretty constant I think. It's a test done by the plastic manufacturer (BASF) and they know their shit.

I didn't know Atomic Prime's 110 is similar to other brands 130.
Actually i have a pair of Prime 130 model 2017.
While skiing on the slopes at -5°C the boots are just like a stone; impossible to flex.
I am a very good skier but really it feels stiffer than a pair of brand new Lange RS130 that I have tested before.
I am 170cm big and my weight is 'only' 77kg
My boot size is 24,5 --> On the atomic's the 2 buckles touch on each other when i flex at room temperature.
The paint on the buckles has gone off because of this and there is even some damage on the buckle (because when I flex the upper buckle pushed on the other buckle on my feet...)
This is a really strange fact also; is this because of the boot is just too small at size 24,5 maybe ??

When I mean it's similar to other brands' 130s I mean from a material specification, not hardness.

Part of the buckles touching was the buckle of that construction. The new Prime should be better in that regard.

And yes, the Prime 120s with True Flex will feel smoother than the 110 at the extreme ranges of skiable temperatures. If you are used to skiing a 130, you should get the 120 instead of the 110.

I think the stiffer you go, the less contact you will have.

They're all really well made and engineered boots. But they all have their unique feel and flex pattern to them, much like suspension curves on mountain bikes.

Other brands don't- it's unique to Atomic.

Are the Hawx Prime 120s and 130s exactly the same boots except the double screws on the back of the 130s ?
Or are there other differences ?
Like grilamid % ?

The 130 uses a stiffer shell material and cuff material. Other than that, the specs are the same.

If you add the 2nd screw to the 120 it will become a bit stiffer in it's forward flex, but it won't be as stable as the 130 because of the lower shell difference. The 130 shell is more stable and will handle higher speeds & choppy conditions better.

At room temperature, they are very similar. But at -20° the Langes will feel stiffer due to their plastic material becoming much harder when frozen.
