Rum_HamWhere did you mount the 184s?
amccahill93im 6'3 and 165ish lbs and ride a 193 everyday, couldnt imagine trying to ride pow on something shorter. havent ridden the devastator itself but id imagine they would sacrifice some maneuverability from the 184 to 194, but id definitely go with 194
SofaKingSickso, youre right between the two sizes based on height, but youre a pretty big dude which noses your toward the higher size a little
youre going to have to go with your gut, but is the plan to use both sets of skis? if so, maybe just find something different than the 194 and commit to it being a big day/pow day ski while the 184 is your more every day ski. having and using both a 184 and 194 dev seems like too much overlap to me (but people do similar things so who knows)
if this is going to replace the ski entirely, disregard what i said and go with your gut. everything is a compromise but keep in mind that we skiers have a tendency to make mountains out of molehills with this stuff. either way you're right near the exact right size and itll be fine.
i think if you are feeling so strongly about this that you want to buy another pair of the same model ski, then it sounds like you do want the bigger size and won't have much of an issue with the downsides of it. also the devs are kinda do-it-alls but you didnt mention any interests like park skiing that would make those extra 4cm an issue at all... if youre mostly blasting around alta and shit and trees are the biggest aspect of your skiing that desires shorter skis, i dont think that's a huge concern and you'll be happy with the 194s
am i on the right track here?
SkiGingerAlso my home mountains are Alta and Brighton UT

SkiGingerYes definitely on the right track. I definitely don’t wanna keep both, I’m just seeing if the 194 would be able to be the daily driver like my 184 is, but still be able to manage the manueverability in trees and natural features of Alta while helping more so in the powder as well. I don’t go in the park anymore at all, I just stick with the natural stuff all over, which is why I love the devs so much because they are a do-it-all. I’m not concerned with the weight difference (184s~2300g vs 194s~2700g), unless it’s going to totally destroy my quickness (this is why I dont skip leg day haha). The swing weight will be different obviously, but if it’s not a huge difference then I’m good to go bigger because of the reverse camber profile on the ski allows it to pivot like a frisbee. I just wanted to see what peeps who have ridden the 194 if they had trouble ripping it around literally EVERYWHERE besides the park like I can with my 184s.
SofaKingSickon the blister one i'd def suggest you read all 3 pages and maybe even the comment section and/or any relevant links the review offers. from my glance at it it looks like they really get into the size discussion
do keep in mind, you are right between these two sizes in height but weight wise you are not
SkiGingerThanks bro for the Teton link, I hadn’t seen that one before! I find more conflict the more I read haha so you are def right just to go with my gut and I will be good either way.
