even the slightest landing such as coming off a rail hurts my big toe. the boot fits fine, i have wiggle room where there should be. should i just reheat the boot?
What kind of boot is it?
Are you 100% sure it fits right? There's lots of minor adjustments that can be made to boots (adding bits of foam on the liner to tighten up the feel and what not). Could also be lack of arch support. If you have high arches you may need to make a minor mod to the footbed/ boot liner on the bottom. You could always try reheating, won't do any harm. Depending on the boot as well you may be able to heat mold the shell as well.
If your boots fit then and you have the stock insole it’s probably the insole. A higher arch will prevent your foot from flattening and elongating and a higher arch insole helps prevents your feet from sliding forward. But if your boots are too big and you have too much wiggle room it’s gonna make your toe bang worse as the boots won’t hold your foot and your foot will slide and hit the front of the boot with a decent amount of momentum.
I had this problem last season- your boot most likely fits fine, but just make sure when you step into your boots and do up the buckles, your ankle is as far back and down as possible. This is the proper positioning in the boot, a lot of times people just shove their feet in and buckle up while their toes are already touching the front of the liners. You know your boot fits and your foot is in the proper position when your toes only touch the front liner when you bend your knees forward. Also, cutting your toenails may help- thats what I did last year when I had toebang and it didn't hurt after.
This happened with my first pair of boots. I really wanted to buy a a piece of foam to put in front of my big toe. Bought new boots I didn't get toe bang. Then it started happening again. So I bought new liners and it stopped again
You probably have no heel lock so as soon as you wiggle your leg, your foot slides forward. Not every boot is gonna fit perfectly, even if you heat mold it. Try picking up some eliminator pads. I had similar issues to you and more and they did the trick. Got rid of my shin and toebang, locked my heel right in.
Had the same problem first couple days last year and it hurt like a bitch. Fixed it by tightening my boot a shitton. I run max tightness on every buckle and it feels like a dream, I was afraid I would hurt my foot by doing that at first.
