ski_steeVail/Beaver Creek: They get a fraction of the snow Loveland gets for instance, and charge twice as much for lift tickets.
Parking sucks, people suck, but everyone knows this...
Also they will pull your pass for having fun.
Sun Valley: Again not an especially snowy place, but if you say skiing and Idaho in the same sentence this is what people think of.
So many better places to ski in Idaho.
Jackson Hole: Yes the terrain at JHole is rowdy and the snow is epic.
The crowds, prices and vibe aren't worth the hype imho.
I would rather ski at Targhee 9 out of 10 days for convenience and better snow.
Park City UT: Unless you don't want to ski pow and lap park instead, every resort in the Cottonwood Canyons is better.
If you rather chill with the crowds at PC that's fine, no one at Brighton or Solitude cares.
tldr: mega resorts blow. support non vail resorts

Some names?
pinkcamo10001) val d'irene, they get so much snow they don't need snowmaking, probably the best lift accessed tree skiing in the east
2) mont ste. anne, good all around mountain
3) sutton, also very good tree skiing
theabortionatorLol, beaver creek is underrated as fuck. Go hit the trees sometimes. You can get fresh pow laps weeks after storms. Get a season pass, buying day tickets at bigger resorts is for people from texas.
Also nice tag on the end. VR are the only corporate resorts I guess lol.
r00kieBoyne Mountain/Highlands. Pay $100 a day to ski 300 vert of the same fall line.

Knewnewsi would say nubs has a more interesting layout but boyne mountain isn't bad. highlands seems a little mellow. this is all from long ago memory though.
where else besides going all the way to the UP are you going to get decent hills? caberfae is decent but small.
.otto.park city mainly because I am sick of watching generic edits that all look the same

QuaffStick to the groomers and gondola area at Jackson then sure, it might suck. Crowds are a problem on holiday weekends and massive powder days like most big resorts. But on those mid-week days with a 5-6" layer of fluff, and no lift lines... The place is like a dream, it doesn't feel like real life sometimes. Hiking Casper bowl and the crags will blow your damn mind. Don't get me started on the sidecountry, because there is no better lift accesed skiing in the U.S.
evaroniYellowstone Club. I only ski there because my dad has like $18 mill in the bank and a ski cabin there. But I think there is too much hype surrounding their culinary offerings.
theabortionatorTo me killy always seemed overrated. I felt I could find the same or better terrain for cheaper. I'm a cheap fuck though.
weastcoastUnderrated: (never been there) holiday valley NY. Everyone says that the parks there are like on par with springs and boulder and the rails are always in good condition

ski_steeI know all about scoring pow at Beaver Creek it's just the lack of free parking and having to traverse to and from Arrowhead.
I totally dig low-angle pow skiing go to Aspen buttermilk or deer valley and you can find goods all the time.
I thought the thread though was most overrated and I think Vail/Beaver Creek are well deserving of that title.
Imagine you don't have an epic pass and are making a trip out west you would get way more bang for your buck skiing monarch or Loveland.
Chubz.Big boulder isn’t even comparable to springs, only resort you should compare boulder to is carinthia in my opinion. 7 springs is the most overrated resort on the east coast. Their parks don’t meet their up to their reputation and the whole resort is kinda meh in my opinion. Would rather drive to WV and ski snowshoe

FUUUCKSunshine Village
Great park, sure. But they market themselves as this amazing mountain experience.
Most of the terrain is flat and wind scoured, the majority of your time is spent traversing around to get to the "good" skiing and then traversing to get back to the lift. Add in an awful parking lot and you've got the most over rated mountain in Alberta.
weastcoastHonestly I totally disagree with you (hey, we all got different opinions, dats alright). Now I do happen to ski there like 40 days a year, but, I do think they have some of the best parks in the east based on what level they operate on. They make stuff for all levels. From baby boxes to 75 foot booters. Plus they have the only superpipe in the east (I think so) and the parks themselves are really, really fun. I ride at least twice a weekend, and I can’t remember a day where I haven’t had “the best day of the season” cause every day is the best day of the season, no matter the conditions. Their features are always in top shape, and the lips for everything are always taken care of good. Their setups aren’t the best sometimes, but they sure are fun. They change them every couple weeks as well. And they offer a variety of stuff. Urban style
Park, rope tow park that’s always firing (one of the only rope parks in the east), to flow parks and cross courses, halfpipes, and of course the big booters in the spot. Also, the alley. From what I’ve been told my many people who visit from other mountains (including boulder) they said it was one of the most fun parks they’ve ever ridden. It’s real mellow and long, always stacked with features, and flows nicely with bends and turns. Truly is the best park there.
Fortunately all of these things fit my personal ppreference perfectly, but like I said, everyone got a different opinion.
Personally, the vibes are all time, and it’s a great atmosphere. Skiers and boarders... we all get along together real well. Any given day in the rope park we all are hyping eachother up or laughing about something. It’s a great time. Don’t know why everyone hates on springs so much.
hootsquadKillington has some fun terrain and definitely puts in work to make sure they have a mad long season. But as far as parks go I feel like they're way overhyped, so much they could do to make their parks better. its also wicked expensive
eheathPark City has the best park skiing in utah, period. But the mountain leaves much to be desired, it's still quite fun and has some okay areas if it snows, but every other resort in utah has more difficult, challenging, fun terrain.
GodStowe
Killington
Sugarbush
Stratton
Okemo
I could go on
Chubz.Fair enough, I hit up big boulder and springs on the same trip and both resorts didn’t give me that “I can’t wait to come back here” feeling like I’ve gotten with killington, loon, mt snow and Stowe. BB was cool because it has so many different parks but the lifts were so slow and it very quiet when I went. A lot of people but not much hooting and hollering like you get at other resorts, which doesn’t really matter I still had a lot of fun.
I hit up 7 springs in March and a good amount of the resort was closed, the set up they had in the rope tow park was for the burton qualifier I think so it was kinda out of my skill level lol and it was so fucking windy. I guess I was jumping to conclusions when I said it was the most overrated resort on the east coast. I’ll have to go down on a good mid season day to really get a feel for the resort but my I thought it was pretty meh when I was there. Seems a lot different on the internet lol.
But bringing it back to HV I think if you rode there you would feel at home if you like springs. It’s sorta similar set up but it’s steeper and gets a lot more snow. I like the vibe of HV a lot. It’s kind of like Killingtons little brother nestled in the corner of New York if I had to compare it to New England resorts.

Rhinog5I already know I’m going to get hate for this I do every time I say it BRECK is overrated, it’s always super crowded the terrain is alright, I’m not a big park guy so there’s not many steeps that don’t take forever to get to. I’d rather go to vail or keystone almost anyday. And parking sucks at breck
