There are a lot of snobs here who brag about it. The last place I want to be is among those people.

What's boarding-school like compared to public school from your perspective?


Thank you my guy! They called and sang for me and I almost cried haha.

Before I went to boarding school I was at a public school for my youth 2nd-5th grade, right after I went to a private school a little closer from 6th-8th. Been in boarding school ever since.
The main difference between boarding and day school is, obviously, that you live at school.
I remember the feeling of actually being "free" when the school day ended, and that's something I dearly miss.
When I get out of school at 3:30 every day, I'm required to go to a sports/arts block, until about 7, when we're required to go to dinner, and after I have 2 hours of required study hall and a required bedtime of 11. My whole day is structured.
Compare that to being able to do whatever the hell you want or whatever your parents want you to do, and day school seems a lot more appealing.
Another thing is when you go home at the end of the day in public school, you don't see most of those people until the following morning. Inversely, during a normal week I can go and find any one of the guys in my grade at any time. This forces you to be in good standing with everyone, there's not enough time or energy for beef when we're together 24/7.
I miss my public school friends tbh. Those guys were down to earth. A lot of people here are in over their heads.

TLDR:
boarding school is super structured, no freedom after school
always seeing ur classmates, never get a break. No space for beef.

A kid from my middle school went to some boarding school in Ohio. It was over $40k a year. Tbh idk why parents think it's necessary. Connections? Good job? College apps? To have some God damn peace and quiet for once? Life is a mystery

What a crazy way to live, quite the gamble from a parenting perspective... seems like the end result is either a type A, successful go-getter, or you burn out and go nuts. I bet it's super exhausting to have to always get along with your classmates. I'd hate to always have to be "on" around a bunch of fancies

whats even more exhausting to me is how they live their lives and how i have to follow suite if i want to make friends with these people.
Apparently most people’s ideas of a good time are to go out to the four seasons and eat lunch on the daily... I always want to be skiing or wakebording or cliffjumping or something adrenaline related, and my challenege has been finding a niche of people who share that with me.

That's dope! Would be a bummer if you couldn't at least ski. In Junior high HS that's kinda all that got me through. Even night skiing in the most bullshit conditions something about just being out there on the mountain all the time. Saw the post abut how scheduled everything is. Seems hectic as fuck. I guess you get used to it but that would freak me out.

Hope you get some decent snow and some good days on the hill. A lot of times that's enough to make everything kind of work out.
