Landing lincolns

Going to try Lincolns this winter. Whenever I do them on a diving board/tramp, I can get the rotation round fine but I never land on my feet and stick it as I’m off balance. Does being on skis make it any easier? In my head it seems that it’ll be harder than a backy as you only have the width of the skis to land on in a Lincoln as opposed to a backy where you have the length of the ski if that makes sense. Idk if I’m chatting a load of waff but any tips on sticking the landing would be great, cheers

No idea what you talking about with the ski width and length. Landing Flips on skis is the same as on tramp. Ive done backies on skis but no sideflips. The only thing that might make them harder than backflips would be the landing slope.

So with a lincoln, the way you spin means that if you don’t get at least 95% of the way around, you’re not going to land as your feet won’t be under you. Whereas with a backy, you can get 80% round and land on your tails then ride it out (albeit in the backseat). So I’m struggling with landing Lincoln’s (rather than the rotation itself), just asking if anybody’s got any tips

I got them down on tramp to where I could land them every try before I put it to snow. I landed my first ones a little backseat but was able to ski away. I would say the key is having enough air, like if you just huck yourself on some little jump its gonna be difficult, but if you have some time to get your feet under you, its gonna be easier.

When I learned I would do the flip by dropping a shoulder when in reality its better/easier if you do it by poping one shoulder higher rather than dropping one.

Widen your legs as your coming in to land. Won't look pretty but the more comfortable you get, the better it will look.

sideflips are really the easiest commit in skiing. the landing depends. normally just comes around

You might struggle if you cant land a side flip on a tramp, flipping with the weight of the skis and the forward momentum makes it harder for sure

Spot something in front of that's about at eye height and focus on that while u flip around then at the last second look down and spot ur landing. Try it on tramp works every time

Gona revive this thread cause I wana give Lincoln’s a go. Any other tips and tricks that may be useful? Also what kind of take off is best suited for Lincoln’s? The rotation does not seem like it would benefit from a Lippy poppy jump but I could be mistaken. Appreciate the replies.

That used to be called a King Flip in the rollerblading world after Matt King who was the first to do it. Kinda like an underflip I guess.

Anyway for Lincolns I always found that setting my weight and rotation slightly forward helped me make them more consistent, and definitely what the dude said above about popping the shoulder up rather than dropping the leading shoulder to set the rotation, makes it a load more controlled.
