Why do people dye their hair using weird colours?

Just saw a girl with pink hair and realised something. How does that happen? What's the thought process before comitting to something like that?

because people have differing opinions on what they want to do/looks reasonable...?

I personally hate hair dye but out of 7.6 billion people theres definitely a few that love it

I think it's great to express yourself however. But I'd be interested in a research study where they take 100+ people with weird hair colors ( pink, teal, limegreen etc) and then put them through a series of surveys and tests. Then compare those results to a control group where all factors like sex, income, race etc.. are held equal except the control group has normal hair. I wonder what the differences would be.

I mean there's gotta be something different going on in those noggins, right?

Let people do their thing. I think a little bit of purple or pink mixed it to a girl's hair can look great. From personal experience though, friends or co-workers of mine who go full on pink or red have had tough upbringings and pretty shit lives. I think it's a way for them to finally feel noticed and unique. Fuck conservatives, I think new trends like this are nice.

Just because someone does different to what society norms are doesn't mean there's something wrong up there nomsayiin

I nomyasayin. But Studying a large sample size that shares a single variable trait is a cornerstone of sociology & psychology research. When I said " different " I meant just that, I didn't mean " wrong ". The same could be said about any choice trait a large group shares; do people with beards have more or less confidence? Do people with tattoos have higher or lower rates of depression? Seemingly unrelated traits sometimes have surprising correlation.

That being said, I do think people with weird hair are a couple standard deviations away from the normal in alot of ways( "different"), but share alot in common with eachother, if that makes sense.
