Bending brakes in

I am getting the k2 poacher (96 underfoot) and i found a deal on some fks but the brake is 115. will i be fine or will i need to bend them in or get new brakes?

eh i made the same mistake of trying to bend it in and it ended up being a moderate pain in the ass...if you can find smaller breaks for cheap do that

I made the mistake of putting 115s on my park skis and try to bend them in. It was a total pain in the ass all season, eventually had to replace the brakes with smaller ones. I’d say pass up unless it’s an extremely good deal, if it is swap out the brakes.

Way too wide. It will be annoying. I had 130mm brakes on 116mm skis and they caught all the time usually in bad situations

Definitely worth it to just find some smaller fks brakes online and switch them out. You can bend brakes a little, but fitting a 115 brake onto 96 skis would be a huge pain, or would just cause you to catch the excess hanging off the edge if you ever tried to carve.

Dont do it, your brakes will hook together at the worst time possible and youll regret it

Yes that would be better. That’s what people had to do till they started making wider brakes

If you’re not mounting yourself the shop will usually do it. Put a pipe over the end after heating em up a bit and just bend.

Don’t do it. I got Brand new pivots for 140 with my desired brake width. But those kinds of deals are around Memorial Day, not middle of November. Just spend the extra money.

O yea... you can’t just buy new pivot brakes. You have to buy the whole damn heelpiece, and that wouldn’t be easy.

An 80 mm brake might work ok, but I don’t think they have made one that width in recent memory - they come in 75, 95, 115, 130. Considering there is a brake that’s the perfect width for your ski, you should probably get that

yes i'd go this route. bending them out can work fine, bending them in is a mess
