Mountains Closing

Anyone else have a small mountain near them close recently. My home mountain just closed forever and it is the saddest thing every, screw vail.

its only 500 ft of elavation so not really worth all the work so get one there

Completely closed, the owners don’t know how to run a business and sunk it to the ground, Its not good enough for anyone to buy it, sucks tho the place was my second home

There was a big fiasco about this time last year with my home hill. Place has been in operation since 82 and the owner started a successful national parent company "peak resorts" from it. Problem is in 82 when the place started it was in basically woods and farmland but westward development created these giant ritzy suburbs that started to close in and suffocate it. The township that it's technically "in" wasn't even created until the late 90s but as these fuckheads moved in and built next to it, they began to get together to complain about traffic and crazy kids and whatnot. The city zoning and planning committee (made up my asshole residents and developers with special interests) has tried to shut them down multiple times and they got really close last year but a bunch of us got together and went to all the town hall meetings and fought it. I know how it feels to have your home hill be threatened that really sucks

In Michigan Cannonsburg but out the little legend of hill. The wasnt much but it was to local hangout, cool place. Cannonsburg bought and shut it down just to eliminate competition. RIP Pando

Unfortunately there are a lot of places that are 1 or 2 bad seasons away from closing the doors.

Always stoked to see some open back up even though so many do not :(

We route for the little guys, there's just something about it. When the little mtns can bounce back or get reopened it's the best though.

Facts man, small mountains may not be able to offer the same things big mountains do but they are better in some ways too. Personally I like them better.

I've got a new to me home mountain that has been closed since 2004 and is supposed to reopen this year! Antelope Butte!

Really sucks, I guess I don't really get the Granite Gorge thing. If you are going to have snowmaking and grooming for the tubing hill, why not just make snow on the rope tow next to it and charge the same amount for tubing on that and make it a community ski hill type vibe? I also went through this a few years ago with my childhood mountain Whaleback, which has closed and reopened twice in my life so there is hope!
