Times are changing...or are they

Mammoth opens this weekend every year as long as I can remember. With no natural snow and insanely warm temps they aren't opening this weekend. Is this gonna be a trend or a one time thing? Damn I was looking forward to this. Then again CO and the Northeast especially got pretty hammered considering the time of year. Come on mother nature.

I thought they were still opening thursday with a strip of snow on broadway but I'll still be there next weekend. Hopefully just a late start.

winter starts and ends late, same with summer

PC is suppose to open in two weeks, some snow on the hill but its all man made, its going to be very cold for the next week or so, zero precp in the forecast. I'm sure they'll make the opening date (pretty sure its nov 21) but i wouldn't be surprised if its 100% man made snow. This has been happening more often than not at PC for the last 10+ years, like 5 out of the last 6 years. I sure hope it's not a trend, but we haven't had a decent early season in a long time and 1 decent snow season in the last 6 years...

Anyone know if Squaw will open on purely blown snow? Their tentative opening day is still set for 11/16 I'm not sure if there will be any natural snow between now and then, forecast doesn't look good.

if bear doesn't have a good snow year the lake will literally be gone, crazy 10 years ago it was 30+ ft higher.

It's still early November. Dry Novembers aren't that uncommon here. Most of our snowfall usually comes from a few large storm cycles, and that window often opens in December/January for the Sierras.

Haha I don't know how positive or wishful I am. More of just humble. Mother nature is more powerful than us all and gives or withholds great favors. Last year we had a strong start pre-thanksgiving at mammoth and then it was so weak until March. The year before wasn't supposed to be anything special and it turned out to be massive. The year before that it was "godzilla el nino" and turned out to be a bunch of bullshit.

ive been a mammoth passholder since 94, late openings are pretty common... big storms during the fall are not, some of the biggest seasons ever didnt start until december
that being said, Im going to mexico, Ill be back on the 20th

Eldora, CO had their earliest opening day in 20 years today, Keystone opened today with a 13 feature park (last year they opened with 8), and ABay has been open for like 3 weeks.

On the EC apparently Mt. Snow is open and I think Killington has been for a couple weeks

Extreme weather is more likely to be the norm. Our seasons are probably going to look like Cali as the norm. A few years drought and then one big year followed by a few more years of drought.
