I like Vishnu because they give a no-bullshit description of what the skis are intended for: fucking around in local city parks, backyards & of course, the terrain park. For such things wou want your ski to be soft, it makes skiing small set-ups & butter pads fun. They don’t market them to be all-mtn park skis (more like the Nomad 95). Although the new Vishnu wide skis do provide a more versatile offering. If it’s not what you’re looking for don’t buy them....? And move on

Ive been on 183 wets and 180 Nomad 95s and the wets were noticeably more stable. Just saying OP. You are riding fucking skiblades unless you got the 190s. The vishnus aren't marketed to ski all mountain, so don't buy them for that. I like Icelantic a lot but the Nomad 95s are marketed as an all mountain ski and they are just to squirrely to go even moderately fast in chop. I would say those are some of the most comparable skis out there for soft rockered skis.

Sounds like OP missed the preorder deadline and is now a little butthurt that they don’t sell skis year round. OP likely to classify that as “unprofessional” as well.

Most people that ski Vishnu's can't do more than a 360 and claim they only ski rails and still suck. Also talk constant shit on Nick Geopper and jerk off to Magnus

Are they shitty quality? The pair I had held together extremely well, only park ski I've ever skied ~30 days on with no edge cracks. Maybe I lucked out. If you aren't going huge and like jibbing around they are a great ski.

It's also a good group of dudes running the company. Sometimes you support the people and not the product.

Partially agree with OP on the website. Vishnu I know you're on here so beef up those ski specs on the website! Maybe at least add a turning radius?

I'll reserve judgment on the skis since the people seem cool and folks seem to like them on here. Never rode so won't criticize.

Specifically the quality issues I heard of were delaminating in the tips a little and losing their original rocker shape after a season of use, being almost too bent looking. Haven't had any personal experiences just genuinely interested after hearing absolutely nothing about them anywhere but here.

Also why is everyone getting so butthurt? Ski companies come and go all the time. I'm putting my opinion. If they don't update their website, sales, and marketing they'll probably go under like HG skis(RIP). Just speaking from a business standpoint I'd like to see them survive, but they need to find their sector of the market.


Ok, well in the future I'd recommend phrasing your question a bit differently if you're just interested in what other people have to say. Saying "overly soft, not durable, too much rocker" without qualifying that you haven't skied them could be misleading to some people, seemingly implying that you've personally had a poor experience with the skis. Particularly when it comes to durability, context is hugely important. The folks you talked to in line could have been slamming their skis into rails all year, in which case a little delamination at the tips would not be all that uncommon, even on skis from other brands.

I've never skied Vishnu's and I am not particularly interested in skiing them because their skis simply don't align with the skiing I like to do (I don't ski much park). But that doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way to put them down.

Starting and running a business is extremely difficult, and partially or completely unsubstantiated negative comments about a product's performance can unfairly negatively affect the brand's reputation. This is particularly important for small brands like Vishnu, who rely on public comments, reviews, etc. to spread the word about their products.

I'm all for people sharing their personal experiences with products. It gives other folks some info off of which they can base their purchasing decisions, and it gives companies feedback to use going forward. But throwing out statements from brief interactions with other skiers and not being able to provide context is not very helpful, and arguably unfair to the manufacturer.

dude people are going to react strongly if you lead off with saying that you think they're some of the shittiest skis you could buy. Just because people feel differently about Vishnu compared to Faction is because they're different companies and everyone has their own opinion on each ski company. That has nothing to do with being hypocritical. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure if someone made a thread about how Factions were the shittiest skis you could buy, people would still react pretty strongly.

Here is my review of the Wets: They are the most playful, easy to butter ski I have ever been on. I used to own Blends and the Wets are much more stable at high speed while also being easier to butter, which is because of their flex pattern. I do rails every day I ski and jump on rocks and stumps as much as possible and they have held up better than any ski I have ever owned. I'm not a rail rat who hikes the park all day so I'm not the hardest on my skis, but I'm definitely not careful with my equipment either. The downside of the Wets is that they have terrible edge hold on hard pack because of how little effective edge they have. However, on almost all soft snow conditions they absolutely rip, including powder. They aren't going to power through late day chop, and if you're too far forward on them while going fast the noses will fold and you get sent over the handlebars. But that's not what the skis are for. In my mind, the Wets are the first ski ever that is truly 100% designed for freestyle. It's not meant to ski like a race ski. It's not meant for beginner skiers. It's not meant to bomb down lines in AK. Think of it more as a skateboard compared to longboards and cruiser boards etc. It's meant to do tricks and nothing else. So if you want a ski for jibbing the whole mountain and getting wild in the streets, this is what you want.

The vishnu website is shitty because they're a small company and definitely can't afford a pro web designer.

Fuck heavy with Vishnu, theyre some of the best dudes in the “industry”, super solid customer support cuz theyre hella easy to contact, the skis will last you a full season of heavy rail use which basically cant be said about other skis I or my friends have ridden. Also they work hard and do great shit for the culture, just go back and watch their videos, quality heavy hitters plus now theyre in an awesome place where theyre finding some sick ass skiers and giving them a bigger platform than theyd have otherwise. No need to throw hate at them

Skied my wets all last season and never had an issue. The only small blemish on them is from slamming into a flat up flat straight on and even then it doesn't affect the way the skis ride at all. Like others have said, they're surprisingly stable at high speeds and the slapping of the tips and tails on the snow when going through chop is fucking hilarious. They're also the lightest skis I've owned and I wouldn't be surprised if they last me at least 3-4 more seasons.
I haven't done any urban skiing with them tho so I can't say anything about their durability on concrete or any other abrasive surface.
Shoutout vishnu they're really doing something different

Working on a very updated website at the moment. Sorry, I'm trying to learn to code via youtube and make the site at the same time, so it taking a bit. Should be ready by the time next pre-sale rolls around.

You can still buy Vishnus right now, not sure what you're talking about. I bought some 183 Wets with the oranges for the graphic just last week.

Oh yeah, I saw that. What I meant was that I must have read your original comment wrong.

Also not really related but kind of related... FedEx just emailed me. Looks like my Vishnu Wets got dropped off two hours ago. I'm so excited to bust them out opening day. I'm curious as to if I can one ski quiver them at Granite Peak. I struggled a bit with my K2 Domains as far as groomers go so I am skeptical but I read that it's possible. It's the midwest and I'm in the park 75% of the time anyways.

Rode wets as my only ski last season in Vermont, sure there were some days that I wished I had edges or something a little stiffer but I had fun every day I was out (~120) I would honestly be shocked if they didnt work out for you
