Denver Peeps - where to get skis repaired?

Full core shots or just a bunch of deep gouges? P tex generally doesn't hold to cores/fiberglass very well, so if that's the case, and you aren't familiar with fixing skis with epoxy I'd def take them to a shop. I've also heard great things about base welders. My recommendation if you don't have all the cash in the world is buy $5 worth of p tex, get it burning, and go to town. Then, take a metal scraper to your bases til they're smooth. Finish it off with a hot wax, and see what holds. Many shops will charge a ton for a fucked up pair of skis, and the less terrible your skis look, the less the shop will ravage your pockets.

I think most of the damage is to the base - but there's a lot and its deep. There may be one gash that just touches the core but hard for me to really tell. You might be right I should probably just give it a try.

Seconding Confluence. Cool shop that does good work. They're right across the street from the Aquarium.

It sounds like its just a core shot which is not that advanced for a competent ski shop. When I first got my 4FRNT VCT's I only had them for about 3 days up when I busted an edge in when I cased a rail. I thought they were toast but took them to Alpine Base and Edge in Boulder (I was going to CU at the time). The guy was a little judgmental I trashed them on a rail but he did a great job repairing them. I have had the skis for about 10 yrs now and only had to have minor work to the base near the edge a few years ago.

On a side note, I was a freshman at the time and didnt have a car so I took the bus down to pick them up. The asshole bus driver didnt let me take my skis on the bus so I had to carry them all the way from Pearl Street back to campus.

Its worth it to not go into any ski shops on the front range. Bring them to Pups Glide Shop in breck next time you're up in summit county. They are miracle workers
