The ideal resort ski ?

I'm looking for the best ski to fit...

A ski for skiing at the resort. Usually I end up going all over the mountain, but could end up outside the resort hiking for fresh tracks. The skis need to be able to handle natural jumps and rock/cliff features, nothing bigger than 40ft. I don't have too much style so I don't need too much flex for the butters and stuff people can do.

I used the Salomon QST 106 and the Blizzard Bonafide 98 last year.

Sometimes carving up groomers is the best part of the day if it's a quick day or just a couple runs. I loved the way the Bonafides were stiff and carved well, but I ended up using the QSTs more as snow increased. I liked their playfulness, but the QST did not hold edges as well as the Bonafides.

I found it easier to land decent sized airs on QST 106 vs. Bonafide 98 (obv. surface area). I suppose this has to be factored into my ski choice at least a little bit.

Are there any skis that are 105-115 in this range that have a some type of combo between edge/performance, playfulness, durability...

I have a pair of J Ski vacations 106 underfoot, I use them for exactly what you described. Mine are two years old now and they are on the softer side but I love them and would recommend to anyone, I think J has stiffened them up a bit for the newer models. If you want really stiff, his "metal" skis have had good reviews. Would recommend having a look.

The Blizzard Rustler 11 is the obvious choice as it’s a more playful Cochise/wider Bonifide that has metal underfoot for solid edge grip but no metal in tip/tails so they are softer and more playful. Mount moved forward a bit too to make it pivot well for a wider ski. Fantastic free ride ski.

Agree with the Wildcat/Bibby as it’s the reference standard in playful charger. I bit wider than what the OP was looking for but handles like a more narrow ski ski. Punches above it’s weight class too in crud.

I have a pair of kartel 108's that i use for my everyday/resort ski i find it works good for me every where i need it to and its a really fun ski. Ive also skied on them for 2 seasons now and they are still in really good shape and they work just as well. I know im being biased but i've just never had a ski that I have enjoyed more.

I will second the Wildcat suggestion.

Other options:
- Prior Husume: Very heavy and stable ski with a lot of tip taper and deep tip rocker that makes it easy to release out of a turn. More traditional and less playful than the QST 106
- ON3P Wrenegade 108: Similar to the Husume in most regards
- J Skis Metal: pretty damp and stable but also very playful. Could be thought of as a heavier, more stable, and also more playful QST 106.
- Icelantic Nomad 115: Similar to the Wildcat, a bit softer and maybe a touch more playful, but probably carves a bit better. (Nomad 115 carves weirdly well for how wide it is)
- Nordica Enforcer 115 or 110: Quite damp and stable, but with a rocker profile that makes quick slashes easy. Enforcer 110 is an exceptional carver for how wide it is. Both of these would be significantly more damp than the QST 106.

Im 5'10" can ski virtually anywhere technique wise but as I'm getting older (67) my fear level has increased. That being said im looking at a 2018 Salomon QST 106 as my all around one quiver ski? thoughts?
