Best way to listen to music while skiing?

wireless headphones? I tried noisapp which is supposed to adjust volume as you move or stop moving, the app didn't work at all. Plus I j want new headphones, and I need suggestions, I'm looking for something under $100, might go as high as $120 w that budget if they're worth it. Any suggestions would be dope :)

If you wear a beanie, anything will work.

When you have a helmet the options are more limited. Most people wear earbuds. I am a big fan of the icons from skullcandy. The lowriders should also work under a helmet

yeah I wear a helmet so it's p hard to use anything but small earbuds, thank you tho im gonna check those out

I tried skull candy but they didn't really fit my ears well. the Apple earbud work great for me. They are nice and comfortable, and don't fall out every 10 seconds which is a plus

The $30 sony ones from target have treated me well for years. Comfortable under a hat and helmet. Good sound too.

I like using wireless JayBird headphones. I cannot stand the wire connecting from my head to my jacket cause they always get pulled out.

But I have a button clip on the inside of my jacket. Its a male clip on my jacket, and i have a butterfly clip about half an inch long so I clip around my wireless bluetooth headphones.

(my headphones are connected with a wire to eachother but not to my phone) The butterfly clips around that wire to the button on the inside of my hood and it's pretty damn hard to pull it off so I'm confident that I won't lose them.

A wired solution would probably get pretty annoying fairly quickly. I recommend getting wireless in-ears. However, in terms of audio quality, you don't get as much for your money as you do with wired solutions. But this is about the handiness of it, right? :-)

If you can spend it, get an audio system. The poc beats communication neckroll is decent but $$$$. Honestly get Apple AirPods. They have a tracker if you lose them too. You can either skip a song, play/pause, use siri, or rewind just by tapping the side of the earbud (no buttons and wireless) and it works just fine through a helmet, and the battery is mint. Lasts forever, and only takes a couple minutes to charge back up to 100%.

I recently got a the BeatsX, they're wireless but have a bit longer cable that sits on your neck/shoulders and have been really great so far both not wearing a helmet and wearing one. You can get them on eBay for like $60.

This. I got serious sendies on the last mogul of a mogul field today, and landed so hard both of my earbuds came out

I immediately realized if those were air pods I would never see them again.

For what it's worth I had a friend lose one in some spring snow and he (barely) found it using the tracking feature.

Same friend lost the other ear bud in chopped up moderately skied out powder and it was gone forever. We were right where it was telling us it was and couldn't hear any beep or anything. RIP

It's not really an issue of finding it or not, it's that they don't seem to like to stay in your ears when you're landing stuff, and trying to find them is insanely frustrating and inconvenient even if you do end up successful. Both times he was jumping off of something and landing and they fell right out. For EZ groomer skiing they're probably ok though.

true, bikelifebeck might be confusing gps specifically with just location tracking in general. I disagree it’s impossible, in the handful of times I’ve lost mine I’ve been able to hone in on em pretty quick, and the lost sound it plays is surprisingly loud. The key with airpods is to use your goggle strap over them as an anchor, wearing them loose while skiing is a bad call

Maybe I shoulda been more specific to what I was thinking. Any amount of fresh snow and it will be impossible to find. Groomers, totally possible but a bitch and a half as you say. But for $200+ for those pods, it's isn't even a question it's a bad idea


Edit: buuuutttt if I got them free or was super loaded maybe I would rock em without worry cuz I could just get more. No cords is def nice

they are $160, and widely available at a normal non-sale price for $140 from many reputable venders. Widely thought to be the best product apples made in years and tbh freeskiings not even a very good use case for them. Don't knock em until you've tried em, between AirPods for day-to-day use and noise cancelling over the ear headphones (mdr-1000x) for video editing/flights, I'm never going back to wires, and highly recommend others hop on the wireless wave if you can
