how many of you are sliding royal now, if any of you have seen assult you see gargnie doing it and i have recently been doing it, its pretty fun

i havent seen someone do a royale on skis yet but 2 problems imediately come to mind. 1)edges will get screwed bigtime and 2) ski boots arent made to flex like rollerblades. i dunno maybe i need to see a pic or something. i guess i could see it becoming an urban trend or for people who can afford to kill their edges. who knows it might catch on and become big lets see some pics im curious

its sick, i remember last year when the front page of d-structure had belan royalin this urban round rail, it was sick as balls for anyone whos got the steeze and skill to pull one . phil warren is a sexy bitch o remember any trick done wrong looks bad , it doesnt mean it cant be a steezy trick

yeah skiing came first, but i dont see rollerbladers doing spread eagles. i do see skiers doing rails, safties, mistys, landing backwards, mutes, corks, and the list goes on.

anyway the rollerblading arguement is stupid and pointless

skiers drew most of there inspiration from snowboarders, not from inline. there is certain shit i'll admit, but snowboarders had way more influence.

^ snowboarders got their start from skateboarding/surfing, look at old skateboards and they have roller skate trucks on them, rollerskates evolved into ? rollerblading, so skiing and rollerblading do have their parallels, and you guys hate it when snowboarders hate on skiing, why stoop to their level and hate on rollerblading

yeah even rollerblading evolved from skateboarding and surfing and im sure freestyle bmx is thrown in there somewhere. in actuallity all of these sports help each other progress some people just dont want to hear or believe it but its true

yeah, i skateboarded for a long time so i developed one of those deep rooted hatreds for the sport itself. not neccesarily the people doing it, just the whole concept of putting your feet in the gayest arrangement possible and sliding down a rail. royales really dont look cool at all and fuck your edges to shit, why would you do them? i think we need to close the door on this whole 'rollerblader influence' thing and head back towards doing bigger shit over bigger gaps to crazier rails. I would much rather put myself in more danger than do one of those... things.

That looks sweet. You guys keep doin them. Don't listen to any of this rollerblader bullshit because even though rollerbladers don't have much style the ways they grind are pretty technical. I don't think it's a big deal to use rollerblade ideas because even if stuff rollerbladers do on rollerblades looks gay on rollerblades (wow tong twister) that doesn't mean it's gonna look gay on skis.

Everyone use the rollerblade ideas but put style into them. Nothin wrong with drawing inspiration from rollerblading cause im sure we can make that shit look good.

holy crap. markymark...yes, the name 'royale' was derived from rollerblading. but thats what the grind is, so why rename it? skiers didnt rename lui kangs, bios, flatspins...and they are all derived from inlining. if anything, we should have renamed mutes, japans, etc, because they were derived from skateboarding and snowboarding, and they arent really compatible with skiing. but we didnt, so all the more reason to keep the name 'royale'.
seriously, you are a tool, who probably gets bitched around by your newb snowboarder friends, and then hates on certain aspects of skiing in order to try to stay 'cool'. stop with the act. if you dont want to do inline-influenced tricks on skis, so be it. but you have absolutely no reason to hate on other skiers for it and tell them they shouldnt do it. damn noob.

yeah why dont we rename it and why dont we start calling backslides five-o's o man well be so original and cool just like when we do 50-50's damn good thing no other sport has taken those names yet

comon guys we already have lipslides, butters, flairs. in those three tricks weve taken them from skateboarding, snowboarding and even freestyle bmx. that doesnt make us any of those and i dont see people complaining that we should rename those tricks

The only problem with doing a 'royale' on skis v. inline skates is that on inline skates you balance on both the side of your foot and the chasis. With skis you only balance on a 3mm wide edge of your ski.

^ and that skates are kinda mad to be royaled on and have grooves for it and replaceable parts. i think the royales on skis look sick i could just never afford to kill my edges like that. granted i dont think i could balance it either.

you can steeze them out pretty easy, because when you throw your uper body forward, you push your arms out and down all gorilla and they can look way sick, i think its sick there is this new progression
