Replying to AscentShell vs Gore-Tex Pro in Whistler/PNW

I live in WA and will primarily be skiing at Whistler/Stevens Pass this season. I was originally looking for a Gore-Tex pant/jacket setup but found that I really liked OR's Skyward II pants, which use AscentShell. I know that theoretically Gore-Tex is more bombproof while AscentShell is more breathable. But will AscentShell be sufficient for wet/warm storms? New to the PNW and these are an investment piece for me so I want to make sure they'll keep me dry. Thanks!
