#1) Broke my femur skiing at Jay Peak when i was 6
#2) Broke my other femur skiing at tremblant when i was 14
.Frywhen I was like 12 I was sitting on my bindings to get speed for a jump but lost my balance when trying to get up and went off the jump backseat and landed on my head lmao
sidehustlehoeI couple winters ago I was spring skiing and landed on my face when doing a backflip. If it weren’t for my helmet I for sure would’ve been in the hospital
freestyler540God... too many times. 8 to be exact. These are my closest;
At 7 years old, had appendicitis. In surgery, the appendix burst and got a huge general infection. At 3 days after surgery, the doctors knew I was gonna survive. did 7 days in ICU and another 7 days under observation. Couldnt stand up on my own for 2 months.
At 20 while belaying my buddy on a sketchy cliff face. He stepped on a loose rock that freed a 2 ton boulder. The fucker landed at arms length from me. Felt the shockwave of the impact. It was ironic that I was going to get up to get my helmet in my backpack due to falling stones. That pack was between me and my pack.
At 21; fell asleep behind the wheel after a 24h day. Those rugged strips on the side of the highway saved my life. Im now taking precautions to avoid that situation.
At 25, I was going for a tripple stepper (10', 20' and 15') got bounced on the second ledge and ligned me up with a tree. I fought the 3rd drop and landed inches to the right of that tree at high speeds.
At 26, I triggered a hard slab category 2 avalanche 50m down from the release point. Got out of the way just at the right time. My partners thought I was crushed in it. I was lucky and skilled enough to get out.
At 28, going to Ainsworth hot springs. I was doing 90km/h on a snowy night on the highway and out of nowhere, a deer jumped the highway and it stopped in my lane. I swerve left to miss it and a 1/2 ton pickup was coming up the blind hill. I nearly hit the deer and came so close to the truck right after.
BigPurpleSkiSuitBack when i I was living in Israel in 2014. There was an operation going on in Gaza. Basically just gaza firing rockets at us and us shooting them down via Iron dome tech. Every now and then youd get a shooting in the west bank. Staying at a family friends one weekend in tel aviv, thinking i could really go for some sushi at my favorite place a few blocks away. Realize I left my wallet at the school so I cant. 15 min later hear a bunch of sirens. Some Arab brought a submachine gun into a supermarket next to the sushi place and shot a bunch of people while running onto the road. Place where i usually sit in the sushi restaurant caught about 6 bullets, shattered glass everywhere from the pictures. Realize not having money just saved my life. Really fucked with me for awhile that it could have just ended all right there.

HodorOnly a couple days ago I was running and came across a huge pickup truck at a stop sign. All the windows were completely blacked out so I couldn't see/interact with who was inside...I stop for couple seconds and signal to the driver. The truck doesn't move and there is no traffic coming. I cross and they gun the gas and hit me. Thankfully I wasn't far in front so the hit wasn't that hard, but they just kept accelerating. At this point I am seeing my death play out in slow motion as this massive truck is running me over and I am about to go under the wheels. However, since the truck had a front deer guard, I was able to grab and hold on as my heels were being dragged across the street underneath the truck. After what seemed like forever they thankfully stopped.
It all happened so fast and I was so confused and filled with adrenaline that my gut reaction was just get the fuck out of there and keep running Forest Gump style. I never saw inside the cab with their blacked out windows and didn't get the plate which was a mistake. They were probably texting at the stop sign and didn't see me until they saw two hands clinging on to their front grill. Anyways, all the music I listened to on the rest of the run felt weirdly existential and I still feel very odd even after a few days. Just thankful I didn't actually get run over.
Titus69That's why when I bike around the city I'm as caution as I can be, lotta idiots behind the wheel these days.
freestyler540I never bike on the roads anymore. Depending where you live, getting hit by drunk drivers is such a common occurrence. Drunk driving or distracted driving.
Reminds me of the time last year in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; I was taking a blind corner and out of nowhere, a huge pickup truck appeared head on in my lane (2 lane highway). I swerved into the shallow ditch to avoid him. I was borrowing my parents 40,000$ SUV that day to attend classes. My parents laughed as I told them the story... I was just glad not to put a scratch on their brand new car.
Titus69Yeah I see too many people with a phone in their face, the kid I work with who my boss trusts more to drive than me will literally be on his phone driving from 1 appt to the next 15 minutes away, almost impressive but I have to put my phone down to watch the road.
freestyler540Before distracted driving laws were in effect, I remember trying to text and drive once. Couldnt keep a straight line and type at the same time. Came quick to realize that its impossible and stupid dangerous. Never did it again. I dont even answer the phone either. Even better, my passenger is in charge of my phone, changing the tunes and my navigator when I dont know the area very well.
My buddy who was driving picked up his phone after receiving a text on a gnarly stretch of road. I yanked the phone away and put it in the glove box. I offered to read the text for him and answer for him. He wasnt happy about it and maybe a dick move, but I think my life is far more important than a text message. The guy isnt the greatest driver either.
I saw this article on CBC news: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/mom-train-collision-teen-killed-phone-distracted-driving-1.4867255
Im gonna get a lot of hate by saying this, but I have no sympathy for the girl. Sure the mother is heartbroken and I sympathize with that, but dude; she got slammed by a TRAIN due to a snapchat notification while the music was blaring.
IsitWinterYet17In regards to the story, do you not have rail crossings in Canada with lights and shit?
