Biggest Pet Peeves When it Comes to Food?

The title says it all. I'm referring more to restaurants but anything goes.

For me my #1 is premade anything. Burgers and meatballs bother me the most. It's obvious when they're premade and let's be honest, they don't taste nearly as good as if you took the time to make them yourself. Unless you're a fast food joint, have some respect and make your burgers from scratch. Been to way too many overpriced places serving up premade patties lately.

Waiters who don't pay attention. If my drink is empty you should offer me a refill within 5 minutes, same thing for getting the check. I also hate tipping for mediocre service but you kind of have to in the US, restaurants should just pay a real wage so I can tip good servers and ghost the shitheads.

People who order specialty burgers/sandwiches and ask for them to take off certain toppings. Just order a cheeseburger with your own toppings if thats the case.

Also i've legitimately seen people try to eat hot wings with a fork and knife, or even worse, while holding a napkin so they dont get sauce on their hands and that should be a crime, honestly.

I use a fork and knife with wings because wing Wednesday is my idea of hell on earth. Everyone around has sauce on their hands and faces, every beer glass has saucey-ranchy fingerprints up the sides. It's a fucking warzone. I'll take getting mercilessly made fun of over being covered in sticky ass buffalo sauce any day of the goddamn week.

I love every country that doesn't have tipping.

Obligatory tipping is the dumbest horseshit. I actually tip well in the states but I still think it's fucking terrible. If the service is great and you tip well, well you were supposed to. If the service shit and you don't tip well, you're a scumbag. It makes no sense. Climbing trips where they have the tipping as a mandatory but excluded, but also have a specific list of prices to tip the people.

Make your fucking price the price and get rid of tipping. Tipping is just bullshit hidden fees, and I fucking hate bullshit hidden fees.

Same with people that say Best Offer but have a specific price in mind and turn down/bitch at you for a reasonable offer. If you have a specific number in mind, fucking tell people or don't bitch when you get a reasonable offer that isn't as high as the number in your head.

A hostel I was at in Florence had a cafe and the checks were written in Italian except for a line at the bottom that said "Tips are Appreciated". I respect the hustle, I saw a lot of Americans tipping. It's seriously fucked up that in America you have to pay for your food and pay the waiters fucking salary.

I love A1 sauce. I make a point to order it when I order my steak. When the steak is ready and the chef says "oh no, sir, you dont need A1 on that steak"

I dont give a fuck how good the steak is I want A1 sauce

I hate that my chow hall puts onions in/ on EVERYTHING. I had a bread crusted pork chop today and it had fucking onions in the crusting. They put onions in rice, corn, green beans, you name it. Its not that I don't like onions but im not a huge fan of them when theyre in every fucking piece of food I eat.

I've been served cold food in a few restauants..
I don't like the tipping culture here in the US either. Also stupid hidden expenses like when you're looking for a new apartment and they advertise the rent but dont tell you about the other hidden monthly fees until you arrive to the showing.
I also don't get why hamburger buns have such a tiny thin bottom. It gets soggy and gross with the juices and I hate soggy bread.

I thought tipping for mediocre service in a restaurant was annoying...then I went to play cards in a Casino. You're expected to tip the dealer every time you get a medium sized win, like 5 bucks on winning 50. The fuck? This is literally just charity into the hands of the dealer, there's no real outstanding service being provided. Their idle chit chat isnt why I sat down at the table, so I'm not gonna tip for that either.

Odds are already stacked against you, and when you do win, you're expected to pare down another 10%? I dont see the dealer tossing 5$ chips my way when I lose.

The guy next to me won $200 and tipped the dealer $5, and the dealer goes" gee thanks " sarcastically. If someone was winning consistent $20 - $50 hands and never tipped once, they got the same flak. That was the first and last time I'll ever go to a casino.

The place where I work, the cafeteria does this on every freaking pizza. When they try to make calzones, expect half to be raw gooey dough. It's not that hard to cook dough ffs

the wack thing in canada is that servers get paid at least minimum wage but you're still expected to tip 15-25%. a problem here is that some restaurants always tip out to kitchen staff x%, so if you don't tip the waiter, the waiter loses x% on their paycheque which can be a lot on a big bill.

an annoying pet peeve in banff is that you get service quick, you get food quick, and then it takes like 30 minutes to get the bill when you're trying to leave.

another pet peeve is when you go to a restaurant in the states and don't know what to do with your fancy canadian chip card. they give you a dirty look when you're not paying cash and then just swipe your card on some ambiguous machine that I don't need my PIN for and doesn't give a tip option. every time I go to america my bank tells me I should order a new credit card. get with the fucking times.

Eh most places in the US accept chip cards. That was a credit card company initiative as a whole. Some stores just lagged behind. Perhaps your bank sucks?

The only reason stuff is gluten free right now is because it's trendy and hip and everyone is under this false impression that gluten is inherently non-nutritious, fight me irl

Except for the actual 1% of the human population who are legit celiacs. I'm not talking "oh I believe its bad for me so I have celiacs" or "oh my tummy gets kinda weird so I have celiacs"

I'm talking "Any time anything has any gluten in it at all, I cannot be more than 5 feet away from a toilet for 24 hours because my intestines tear themselves apart from the inside and poo poo flows like water from my derrière in regular 10 minute intervals and sometimes it feels like I'm dying"
