Also, YT won't show ads on your videos if you disable them UNLESS there's copyright content (better than a nuke) and I'm not convinced at all that Vimeo is better quality - YT has better compression anyway.

No ads, but if you want hd (not sure how 4k works, probably the same) you pay like $100/year or whatever and the quality is NOT better anymore. Vimeo used to be the high quality HD source for videos... in 2007.

OP YT fucks with videos a lot, especially ski edits with copyrighted music. If you're lucky, you video doesn't get deleted and has some lame free YT music added to is, its awful, probably worse than just deleting it.

YT also offers rev share if you start gaining traction on your channel, but on vimeo you pay more for better accounts, etc. its basically a no brainer these days, but if you upload to NS it will never get taken down ;)

Vimeo still has a reliable offline option and a bunch of stuff only shows up there, at least at first. I figured you were there daily. The cs stuff used to be there but now finding it is always an effort, same thing for nimbus but a bunch of their stuff disappeared. The Space surfing flick right now is only available there. I get the financial side but the service is more reliable than yt in some ways, so as a consumer I'm bummed that yt seems to have taken over.

If you meant Clownschool (you said cs) most of those were on my vimeo account, which has been deleted for a couple years now, but all of these videos are on NS (minus a few kevin made that were vimeo embeds)

Why are you bummed YT has taken over? Have you tried to use YT? If you put a small effort into subscribing to good channels and find some creators you like, the recommended gets better and you discover new content. I think YT is the future of content consumption, especially with YT TV being implemented. Who needs TV when you can go on youtube and watch hours of quality content you would never find on cable tv? There is so much content on youtube, anything you could ever dream of (to a point) I'm a full YT believer.

I'm surprised that people like vimeo so much, i think its just because when HD video was on the come up, vimeo was one of the first HD video players. I used to upload all my videos to vimeo so it could be viewed in HD and I think a ton of ski filmers did the same thing. I never really got into surfing vimeo for videos, when I used vimeo the most I was only really interested in ski videos, so NS was where I spent all of my time watching videos.

Vimeo sucks on my broadband, it takes forever to buffer so much so that I rented a ski movie on it and saw the first 10 mins in the hour I had to watch it. Fuck Vimeo somehow YouTube can load 1080 no sweat but it can't even give me 720
