spliting a movie file into two?

does anybody know how to split a windows media file into two seperate files? i want to burn it to a cd, but it is to long to do that...if anybody knows how to do this it would be greatly appreciated

if youve got XP you can try to import the whole file into windows movie maker, split the clip then delete the second half and save. Do the same thing only the second time delete the first half and save. Then you'll have two files. You have to have XP though cause otherwise you wont have movie maker. Most other video editors you can do it with but you cant import wmv files.

what?? why wouldn't you be able to import .wmv files? that is one of the most common file types for video.
