Where to ski out west this year

My family is looking for a place to ski out west this year. We ski on the east coast and are all advanced-expert skiers. I am able to ski any run in the east. My mom wants somewhere that has some cruisers , and my sister seconds that. I would also like somewhere that has legit steeps and trees. Right now we are looking at Kicking Horse, Revelstoke, Big sky, Telluride, snowbird.

What do you think?

I’d say if money is no problem wait to see what’s getting hammered when winter is actually here and then book.

We were thinking about doing something like that but unfortunately, money is a problem in a sense that we need to find the mix of terrain and value

If you're looking for cruisers then dont go to Revelstoke or KH. Snowbird is a good choice but if you're going out west I'd suggest doing bigger mountains than Utah ones. Majority of the CO mountains like winter park, vail, keystone, etc are solid if you dont mind tourists

Snowbird has great steeps and trees, good cruisers too, but they do usually become cat tracks of sorts. what time of year would you be coming out? I know nothing about the rest of the resorts,

Frisco Colorado would be a solid choice. In that area you’ll have access to Breckinridge, Abasin, keystone, and Copper all within 15- 30 min bus rides.
Lots of hotels where can get a package deal for hotels and passes.
Obviously if your around during the holidays price will go up and more people will be around.
If you go during a non holiday week you’ll have the place to yourself.
Really good skiing in all the ways
you want it. Steeps, trees, cruisers.

Another option in Colorado would Aspen/Snowmass. Would be a little bit more expensive but 4 mountains with free bus system. After spending multiple seasons there I can vouch that you’d have more than enough challengeing terrain to satisfy you.

Check out Big white. Its great for a family. Sick groomers, good glades, decent park and the parachute bowl!

Revy/Kh is the best you can get for chutes/trees and that type of stuff but if your mom and sister want some cruisers bw is a good compromise as it has lots of good crusiers and some decent runs on the upper mtn

alta. similar steeps to snowbird, the wildcat jib laps, and fun flowy cruisers for the parents

I went to telluride last spring and it was so unreal. Lots of steep and moguly stuff and some cruisers. Tree skiing is top notch. Took the most scenic piss of my life on the edge of revelation bowl.

Revy gets the most snow and is amazing, Kicking horse is amazing, but not as good as Revy or fernie imo. And fernie is on par with Revy with its crazy 6 bowls to choose to ski from. If fernie has snow which it usually does it is just an absolutely incredible ride.

I'd go with either Revy or Fernie. Those are my 2 favourite hills that I go to the most every winter.

my whole fam does a Revelstoke trip every year. theres stuff for anyone to ski there and its pretty huge. we have skiers and boarders of all levels and everyone has a good time.

Colorado is hit or miss depending on the year. We have been getting a lot of snow this year so far but that could all change as it did a few years ago. If your going to do Colorado. Do Telluride or Silverton they have been getting a lot of snow so far and it could be a decent year down there. Frisco is a solid place and you've got some options when it comes to skiing. Copper is bout 15 mins, Breck is 15 mins, Keystone and A basin are about 20-25 mins and Vail and those are bout 30-45 mins. Your close to everything and its kind of a locals town. I downright despise Breckenridge but a lot of people love it. Just way to busy for me. You want steep and trees pretty much everything out here has it.
