Smith I/O MAG vs Skyline vs Oakley Flight Deck size wise?

Probably a little premature considering the time of season... but anyone pick up a pair of Smith I/O MAG or Skyline goggles? A side by side comparison would be tits, but I'm mainly wondering how the Field Of View/Overall Size compares to the Oakley Flight deck.

Last season I came to realize the Storm Rose Flash suited me far better performance wise, when compared to my Prizm Pink lens. I owned the I/OX which was comparable in general size, but had a smaller actual FOV in comparison to the FD - it was about that of FD XM model - also wasn't a fan of the rigger mounting points. The FL was terrible let down - was less than the FD XM, comparable to the Splices although probably due to it having a cylindrical lens.

Sooo obviously the plan is to get my hands on a pair of Smith goggles with Storm Rose Flash, or maybe the Skyline Rose Flash Photochromic one... But if someone already owns either of the new Smith goggles I'd love to get a run down on fitment, FOV an if it fits their helmet well.

I/O mag is the replacement for the IO7. I find the flight deck to be the largest of them all and I run the FD XM since i dont need a google that huge. Id stick with your flight deck and pick up the Prizm Snow Hi Pink Iridium lens for the low light day and a sapphire, etc... for bright days.

So where does the Skyline or Mag Fall in comparison to the FD XM?

I had Prizm HI Pink... but found it a really dull lens in terms of having a strong contrast/see difference in depth of terrain in day whiteout conditions. I looked for a HI Yellow lens replacement, however due to the FD being replaced by the FD xm I guess everyone bought out all the replacements of that lens for the FD.

believe it or not the pink lens has better vis than the yellow. it was rated better and oakley replaced the hi fi yellow with the prizm pink. i think in white out conditions, no goggle lens tint is going to give you the contrast you are looking for.

IO Mag is quite a wide goggle, peripheral is on point just not unnecessarily tall, not as tall as the Flight deck but surely as wide. Great field of view. Skyline is a bit smaller, similar to a standard I/O, not as big to flight deck by any means. Squad XL has an awesomely large field of view, and a great deal with Chromapop lenses.

Chromapop is the real deal, its amazing. Seriously.

Really I didn't realize Prizm Pink had a higher VLT % - in low light conditions I felt it was as though darker than HI Yellow, or are you talking contrast wise it gives better vis?

I feel like the only comparison I have to compare the Prizm HI Pink would be the OG HI Pink circa 2007 (not vr46 version) the lenses look pretty close in tint/fov, but prizm one has a slight golden hue to it I think to deal with when the sun comes out you aren't blinded... Anyways I'd use OG pink in cloudy or cruddy weather, but when it began to snow big flakes or get foggy I'd swap over the HI Yell, since that one felt like someone turned the lights on so you could see more... but I guess 'more' isn't necessarily better vis?

Actually sorta. I picked up the I/O Mag for my mom for xmas and I rock the Flight Deck XM. I have the prizm pink and the low light lens from smith is pretty close to being the same. I do like the Mag for how it latches on behind the strap on both sides so in the event you take a spill the lens wont go flying off like the Anon or Spy. I could definitely see myself getting the Mag in the future if i didnt already have the FD. I see no reason to jump ship from the FD to the mag though. they are both great goggles.

I can compare FD, Airbrake XL, and IO Mag.

Gonna give overall shape/size for my face to the IO MAG. Also fits with my helmet best. Flight deck is just overkill for me. Like the airbrake xl as well.

The only reason I even considered picking up another pair of goggles, is because I have a 50% off coupon from Smith Optics and I like their low light lenses more than Oakley's Prizm Pink....

Unless they're a L.E. Collab pair I've wanted for years, I won't bother buying anything until I sell off all my spare goggles/parts... Since I really do have enough lmao

I don't mind the FD as they sit nicely with my Bern Watts, the Macon they look a little ridiculous on.
Could you snap a photo of the FD next to the IO Mag to show the overall size like I did here with FL?

I get it dude. I just bought a pair of Spy Aces literally only for the Level 1 collab. Even bought a third lens (clear). Turns out they don't look very great with my head shape and the Smith Maze. Not a bad look but there are gaps on the left and right. I love my Maze too much to find a different helmet. I might go check out the Squads and the different I/O models because I hear they fit great with the Maze. Let me know if you buy the I/O Mags because I'm curious about them and they are a bit pricey to buy blindly.

Also how does one get a half off coupon for Smith goggles? :0

Smith Optics come with a Lifetime Warranty... an it's legit AF!

I bought some I/O goggles 2nd hand years ago that I would use as loaners for a friend or shoveling snow, they broke end of last year - the rigger just broke while putting them on. So wasn't sure why it happened, but figured hell let's see if their Lifetime Warranty is actually real...
Department said I didn't qualify for a warranty replacement, but they'd provide me a 50% off coupon for any model of Smith's from their site... which is dam amazing considering I bought them 2nd hand for like 40 bucks lol

DAMN! Do you know if their helmets come with a lifetime warranty as well?

EDIT: Nvm I looked it up. It was a stupid question anyways because helmets are sort of meant to be damaged. That's there job. They cover helmets for 2 years and if you do damage your helmet Smith will give you up to a 30% off coupon for a replacement.

That's still cool Smith covers them for 2 years. Bern only offers 1 year. Oakley offers "1 year limited warranty" which really translates to unless they clearly F-ed up they won't accept it, but will give you 30% off in exchange. I didn't realize it's actually the industry standard to replace a helmet every 2 years with a new one.

My old bern watts the foam got unglued from the shell, left in sun of hot car dash. After asking them, they informed me they only offer 1 year... but apparently my lid was from their 1st year run models of the watts where they had a bunch of flaws in the design. The women from CS was actually astonished I'd been using it for 9 years LOL - they sent me a new one in exchange for my old one + 30 bucks.

There's something to love about american run businesses, don't get me wrong I'm still an Oakley whore but their warranty is god dam impossible since Lux bought em out.
